A strange issue with AAA games from Japan not working.
Hello.

A short novel.

I've recently ran into a very strange issue whilst trying to run major games based out of Japan. These games include: Dark Souls 1/2/3, Dragon's Dogma, and Monster Hunter:World. The games will launch just fine. Steam will even recognize me being in-game. However, the games will never get past the initial black loading screen. I've gone as long as 5 minutes waiting for Dragon's Dogma to load. Task manager sees them as "not responding" moments after that black screen comes up.

I have ran these games on this PC before with no issue in recent weeks. All of my drivers are up to date, along with my Windows 10. Nothing that I can think of would have changed the way these games launch, minus some frustrating technical difficulties I had with DS4windows. The games were identifying my ps4 controller, but also trying to run the game with an xbox controller config, whilst also trying to switch to a steam controller config... It was just a big mess that I ended up disabling all together. I did fiddle with the default controller configs (what steam will recognize when a controller is connected and whatnot) under controller setup in steam settings, but I have since then reset all of that as well. After this fiasco, these very specific games have stopped working.

Everything that I feel would be in the same ballpark (AAA) runs just fine. From Prey to Witcher 3 to Divinity Original Sin 2 and everything in-between. It's quite literally only the games originating from Japan that are giving me issues. I honestly doubt that it's a "Japan" problem (these games did run just fine before tinkering with the controller settings. Also that sounds ridiculous), and more of a "Steam" problem that I haven't faced before.

I have re-installed both vcredist_x64 and vcredist_x86 based out of each game's folders. I also reinstalled DX10 and ran each game as an admin. No change. I reverted alterations made by Geforce Experience, along with all of the controller changes in Steam I aforementioned. Nothing.

A quick rundown of my computer specs, though as I stated before all of these games worked just fine in the past. I played Dragon's Dogma yesterday...

CPU- Ryzen 2700

GPU- GTX 2070

Memory- 16 gigs.

Better ask in each game's own forum. You are more likely to get help there, since the problem could/probably be game specific.

I suppose, although I would find it odd that the issue would be "game specific" when it pertains to so many games based out of the same region.
