Windows XP Content Servers Unreachable error
Title. I know that Steam stopped supporting XP and Vista like 4 days ago, but i learned about this too late and cant even install a single game on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ netbook that i just borrowed for work, says "Content servers unreachable"...:cozyteddymoo:

Does that mean i cant ever download games on XP system anymore, or just other thing is causing the problem? I downloaded Steam Client and it works perfrctly fine tho...:2016imnotcrying:

You can try the advice here. It worked when I ran into this last year:

Why are you trying to put games on a work computer?

first of all why are you trying to install games on a company PC? you know they usually see whats on it when your done.. second, your company still uses XP infrastructure? issue right there..

there are options.. upgrade to a supported OS, switch over to Linux, or get a new PC.. one of those options is free, and another other can be done relatively cheap

Now computers can be treated like consoles .. rediculous that Valve removes all support for the system.

Also am baffled at the complacency..

umm no.. you see, PC's are designed to be as backwards compatible as possible from the start, as many companies use the same software and peripherals for years.. Consoles are designed the opposite route..

granted, I am not surprised.. you just love to jump in threads and make some false claim to try and bad mouth valve

How cute. Valve removed support for exactly one thing. Steam.

Why anyone would complain about Windows xp not being supported is beyond me, or why they are even using it. It has more security holes than swiss cheese these days, The amount of companies still using it as their main os is insane, Including the NHS in the uk which led to them getting randomware across their network which apprently caused life saving treatment to be delayed for people.

Speaking of complacency, XP went out of Microsoft support in 2014. The system is a horrible joke security-wise (and let's be frank, usability is rather outdated either). Theres not a single excuse to keep XP systems anywhere on an internet-connected device, theres a plethora of reasons not to. Upgrade.

And while we're at it, Windows 10 can be obtained for roughly 20 bucks. Legally.

By work i meant school projects such as using Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and etc. I borrowed this for a limited time and it has Intel Atom, XP Service Pack and 1GB of ram,:awkward: it's a piece of crap by 2019's standarts, there's no deying it.I'm right now saving $$$ for a new rig and do not intend to play games on current "PC" i have, just intestered if Steam legit shut down the servers and if there's other way around. Out of curiousity:emofdr:

If what IU said didn't work then note likely. Its not that the servers aren't there its chust that your system lacks support for the communication protocols.

So you'll just to stick to gaming on your other machine.

Good point you have here. An interesting question is whether the the laptop has a clean Windows install or is sullied (well, the term is warranted in most cases, but maybe not here) by some filtering software. You know, whom have you borrwed it from? If from school or workplace chances are, they've preinstalled some traffic filtering sofware (oddly, most schools and workplaces don't want studends/employees to play games on issued computers).

Nah man, my family member gave it to me for a while. Was using WI-FI at my house, and not working. And also school haven't got any security measures on their network.

Damn, i wasn't expecting having a lot of people comment on this thread. Thanks for sharing your time to writeyour answers:dallas::2018bestcoffee:
