Unable to send gifts to foreign friend
So a friend of mine in Ireland gifted me (a Canadian) a game so, with a little extra cash in my steam wallet I decided to give him something on his wishlist. However, no matter which gift I tried, it didn't work and I got this message.
"Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region."
This is very bizarre, wouldn't he have gotten the same message? Why was his gift successful? I even tried one game that wasn't on sale and it still failed, what's going on?
I'd have gone to steam support but none of the options they give in regards to questions about gifting lead to an input where I can ask about this specific problem

If the price difference between the 2 regions is more than 10% after currency conversion, you can not gift it. The original regional restrictions still apply, if the game has them.

If that is the case, send one of these using external funds only...

For custom amounts over the minimum allowed to purchase, use this guide...

Difference was less the other way around.

That article does not cover the price difference when trying to gift to other countries.

You need to be Steam friends for at least 3 full days. There are no other restrictions on sending them.

FAQ is at the bottom... https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/selectgiftcard

Well thanks for the help, was hoping to purchase the gift card but it doesn't accept steam wallet as a form of payment, really sucks honestly

WTF? Steam is refusing gift purchases because they can't apply a single international exchange rate multiplier? This is literally costing Steam and game developers MILLIONS in revenue... Steam, if you hire me at $1M / year, I'll code this exchange multiplier into your merchant services...

Nothing to do with the exchange rate and everything to do with taxes and who gets it.
