Regional pricing differences is a pain!
I'm trying to buy gifts for some of my friends as per our custom, but it's rather hard to do so when you try to pay for them you get notified that no, you can't do that due to regional pricing differences.

10 games I've tried, and I just got notified that I can't try purchasing anymore for a time due to failed purchases.

This is NOT okay, Steam! There needs to be a system where we can see what games we can purchase for friends in other parts of the world and not.

If the price difference between the 2 regions is more than 10% after currency conversion, you can not gift it. The original regional restrictions still apply, if the game has them.

If that is the case, send one of these using external funds only...

https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/selectgiftcard

For custom amounts over the minimum allowed to purchase, use this guide...

For price references, use this site... https://steamdb.info/

Or use https://isthereanydeal.com/

Well then, you should crusade for a global currency and unified global economy...

So are you willing to pay the price of the game in the native country of the person you're gifting it to? Or do you expect you can pay your price an just send it where ever?

This is an issue as old as the Internet, so you running into it for the first time and expecting Steam to solve the whole world's problem concerning price differences between economies around the globe is probably a little unrealistic.

What crap are you talking about buddy? Until a year or 2 ago we were able to gift to other countries and also store games in our inventory but now it seems that we can't do this. Think about it for a moment and I'll give you an example. I live in Australia and I want to gift someone in the US a $12 game ($16AUS), instead of being able to spend the $16AUS and getting it at a good price I now have to find a new solution. This new solution now either involves Steam Gift Cards (which now costs me $20AUS minimum and the receiver barely gets enough to cover the cost of the game), Humble Bundle or some dodgy site that sells game keys at premium prices. Talking about a global currency/economy is just total ignorance on your part......after all we aren't paying for a physical copy of anything but in fact a digital copy of something that should not have any bearing on global market prices. It's not like it's a share or a bond in a company that we can receive profits from.........

Because it was abused by resellers.

All the other stuff was replied to above.

I can completely relate! I'm trying to buy a game for my boyfriend for Christmas, but steam has effectively detroyed anything that made their product conveient for gaming!

So buy a gift card.

It's perfectly normal. Use your common sense a little. If it wasn't restricted, I could just create another account with RUB currency(or whatever else), buy the games I want for half the price of my country and send them as a gift to my main account.
