VR Compositor using 55% of CPU!!! when using wireless adapter.
I noticed that when I start SteamVR to use my vive pro the Cpu goes up to 52% when Im using it with the cable, and 52% with a game running,
now here is the problem, when Im using the wireless adapter the Cpu goes up to 82%!!!!!!!!! and 99% 100% with a game running! and not running a really demanding game, I tested it with Stand Out.
With wireless adapter the Image some time is choppy, and a lot of missing frames, I tired lowering the graphics, no SS and everything else and I keep having same problem.
I have All updated, and also tried with SteamVR Beta, no luck.

Pc specs
Asus Prime B250M - A
16Gb Ram
Intel i5 7500
Geforce Gtx 1070
1t Samsung Evo SSD
Windows 10

Please I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks!

This is normal behaviour for such a system.

Would you rather it be capped at 1% ?
KHANIE666 Dec 3, 2018 @ 11:36pm
Normal? are you serious? The VR system should take 100% of my Cpu, as my system in not a potato!
You are saying that would need an i9 and a RTX 2080 to run a smooth Project cars??
If this is normal, how on earth would this run with the recommended requirements?

It's not going to take more CPU than it needs. The GPU is the limiting factor in VR.

Sounds like a bad signal. Or, from a quick glance here, https://community.viveport.com/t5/Technical-Support/Vive-Wireless-Adapter-Official-User-Guides/td-p/23158 , is the adapter in a x4 PCIe slot?

Hi thanks for your answer, how can I know that? the card is in the only Pci left as the other one is covered by the Gpu.

1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 mode, gray)
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x1

by the way, signal is with all 4 bars.

The x16 holds your gpu (I sincerely hope) and the other 2 are x1 slots that don't have enough bandwidth to send the stream to the headset, leading to the problems you're experiencing. You're going to need a new motherboard.

Yeah the gpu is on the 16x hahah, ohh ok, this shoule be stated on the minimum requirements! Anyways I can buy a new mother board but no befopre im 100% sure that is the problem.

Do you really think if I buy another mob the problem would be fixed? and also could you recemmend me a mod for mysystem?

Thanks a lot!

Actually, forget anything I said. Misread the thing I linked earlier. It recommends moving it to a x1 slot to fix issues, not from. So certainly don't buy a new motherboard for that reason. Skim reading for the loss.

Sorry. Can't help you, try the vive/vr forum section here.

Thats the problem some people say that when they change it to a x4 they solve the problem, others didn't, I have read every forum available and try all the "solution" that worked for other people but still nothing for me.
And HTC costumer support they are just a useless piece of ♥♥♥♥!!

Hello KHANIE666
hopefully this fixes ur issue as it did for me
first use x1 closest to cpu perhaps put ur gpu lower distance matters according to htc

now to what fixed my issue i was getting dropped frames and higher then normal cpu usage
and blurry image
the fix is closing chrome opening it up destroyed everything and setting the Steam Compositor to high priority

other things enable upove 4g deciding and forced gen 3 in bios

ur issue of high usage may not be fixed by this but it fixed my issues i7 7700k 5ghz
and another person issue on 9900k

hopefully u see improvement
