Steam Not loading/updating Bitdefender

Never had a problem with Steam loading until the fall..then it got to the point where I could not load the friends page and the store page as got a web connection error. However, I could still play my games. I also found I could view Steam in Big Picture mode and could buy DLC..then I noted my games stopped updating over a couple of weeks, to the point where nothing would load but I could still view my game library and play games. But now couldn't buy anything. I uninstalled and reinstalled but still showed a error loading web page and error 138 and others...so I uninstalled it again and reinstalled. Then it would not update and I could not launch Steam...I read a bunch of posts and directly plugged my modem to back of my computer and went into Bitdefender and I moved the button to grey for firewall for the steam applications thinking that should fix it , (steam.exe, steamservice.exe, steamwebhelper.exe) from blue..that didn't do anything. So I gave up for awhile..then looked back and noted that in application settings the steam showed as blocked "now". Look at the far right where you see "...", then "delete rule" for all steam programs. It then worked for me and I have had no issues since. Try that if you have Bitdefender and experience same issue.

Yes, bitdefender has, for the last year or more, been a serious issue for people who run it.

When you run Windows 10 in particular, it tends to update and use bitdefender, but revert any changes you might make on the sly. So... keep up on what you're installing and updating particularly with Windows 10.
