Big Picture 4k Support, Steam Store Performance, Wasted Space
It's 2018, Steam is the largest gaming platform on PC, yet Big Picture only goes up to 1080p resolution. Can we maybe get 4k support for Big Picture mode?

On the latest version of Steam, I've noticed the performance in the Store tab is extremely sluggish. Scrolling is choppy, it sometimes takes forever to load a simple Store page and even cycling through different panes at the top of the Store lags. Everything else is really fast, something needs to be done abotu this.

Also maybe scale the used space with the size of the window for all panes (Store, Community, Activity, etc.) like the Libary tab does with game icons, because there is always a lot of wasted space on the sides.

For 4k big picture, this worked on Linux, I expect it will work elsewhere too.

Quit Steam.
Open <Steam install dir>/config/config.vdf in a text editor
Find the BigPicture section, change or add VerticalRes, eg
"BigPicture" { "VerticalRes" "2160" }
Save
Start steam, see if it worked.

You can add -fulldesktopres to the Steam shortcut to make Big Picture Mode render at the same resolution as your desktop.

It is honestly a bit odd that they don't give you higher resolution options in the UI; Big Picture Mode always renders in a resolution-independent way (i.e. all the controls and UI are the same size no matter what resolution you use) so the only reason not to go all the way up to the native resolution of your monitor is that it's harder on your GPU.

I've been doing some research to find exactly where specifically you are supposed to paste the -fulldesktopres command within the shortcut properties. Can you give some clarity?

It goes in the shortcut's target path, the target should say:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -fulldesktopres

The quotes should be there, but only round the program path and not the command.

Thanks, MancSoulja, it's working great!

This worked for me, thanks a lot!

EDIT: Well, sort of. When seeing a guide from inside a game, it goes back to being huge.
