Why doesn't Valve make games anymore from the millions of dollars they are making off microtransactions?
Valve is sucking in millions of dollars off microtransactions from their games such as CS:GO, TF2, etc. These include cases, crates, keys, skins, cosmetics, and others. My question is why don't they use their greedy earnings to create a new game such as HL3, possibly, and maybe others to come? Please leave your thoughts and opinions down below.

Why is them making money greedy? They are a business. It's their job to make money. And they are currently working on numerous vr titles.

They are working on several games.
Also your question is a non sequitur.

Valve is making money so why aren't they building giant monuments?

makes about as much sense as your question. As for the statement of greedy... colloquial definition of greedy seems to be 'anyone making more money than me'

Half Life 3 would be the worst business decision possible.. the fan base have hyped it up so much that it can never live up to the hype.. it could be the best game ever, cure cancer and degenerative ilnesses, bring about world peace and solve world hunger. people would still complain it isn't good enough..

picture the initial No Mans Sky backlash, now multiply that a hundred fold..

the fan bases obsession with a Half Life 3 is the reason it will never happen, it just can't live up to the hype at this point.. heck, its hyped up more than the Christian Faith has hyped the second coming of christ..

When the fans stop clamouring for it is the when they will consider it. They know that more of the same won't cut it. The learned that from the fan reaction to the episodic releases.

Yup.

They are working on games, like Artifact. I am actually very hyped for that title, especially after watching some gameplay footage. Release date is November 28.

Poor work environment. It's not that they "don't" want to make games, it's that they have big internal problems, actually getting ideas out in the open is tough.

Gaben is not interested in games par say, rather he is interesting in growing a business. His split from Microsoft was to exploit a lucrative market, as he saw it. From his purely business perspective developing games is actually pretty risky, requiring a large investement with no return for a long time, whereas selling other peoples games is far less risky and the returns are immediate. As Steam grew his interest in developing games waned. Sure Valve still explores other markets, but every company does that.

Gonna take all that witha grain of salt and a bottle of vinegar.

QUite simply all other mentions basically say that they only work on stuff when there's a solid or interesting idea for a core mechanic. See Portal (portal gun), HL2 (physics engine), tf2 (comedic class shooter).

The fact they've got about 4 games announced., combined with the fact that Valve doesn't actually leak wind of a game until they're pretty far along in development...

Legend says, everytime someone mentions Half-LIfe 3 on the forums, Valve delays it by another decade. All jokes aside, I think Valve paid their dues...they're well-known for their share of games that still have a huge audience, not to mention created the service that pleases both developers and gamers, so they pretty much earned the right to kick back and collect loads of cash just for existing :P.

No, the job of a business is to provide a service. Making money is its goal/desire, not its job.

But yeah I mean, what service they offer is up to them, Valve would be completely within their right to close the store and start producing toilet paper, and nobody would have the right to tell them to quit it xD

Wactually the legend is every time HL3 gets mentioned on a forum the dat gets pushed back a month. And sadlly the fantwats have memesd it to the point that it will arrive 2 hours after our sun goes red giant.

Got that backwards.

Do you go to work every day because you want to spend 10 hours there or because you need the money to allow you to do the things you actually want to do?

A business exists to make money. The service or product is a means to that end. Businesses who get that order messed up tend to be start-up casualties.
