About reports on profile comments
So they've added a report option (It's a singular click, you can't choose what reason), what does it actually do? Does it notify the owner of the profile or does it actually send a report to moderators? I have some rude/♥♥♥♥ed up comments on my profile (But i in no way whatsoever want to lose them, they are mostly by good friends and just bring back good memories) but yeah.

. If moderators were able to remove it, that'd be really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid Imo. We are very well able to remove content from our profiles ourselves, or even make certaint, or all people unable to comment on them. I don't want to lose my treasury of comments just because someone thought they were too vulgar.

I mainly report phishing links or scam attempts.

Comments that are otherwise rude / offensive can be removed by the user themselves.

I've been doing this consistently and getting ample feed-back that action was taken on a report that I've made.

These reports, i believe, are sent to Steam Support and the account owner isn't notified.

Note, this is my speculation, and not something to quote me on.

Dang, that's horrible if it's as you think. (For me, atleast) Can any Mod confirm/un-confirm this maybe?

This report button works the same as the ordinary report button works. It sends a report to Steam support.

I usually only report repeated spam attempts on my profile. 99% of the time I just block and delete.

A few suggestions in that have alluded that their comment section should be moderated.

Those users got exactly what they wanted after some major UI updates.

It's a somewhat useless update as users can remove those comments at their discretion.

Better still, they can block & report those users via their profile page.

As it is, now, Steam Support will have to deal with the influx of profile comment reports.

Define "protect". You can employ friends-only comments, you can report & block trolls. From my experience, the second method works fine.

I assume he means, how it's possible to stop Steam Support from removing any comments from his profile.

I.e, ones that were reported.

Exactly, They aren't meant to offend anyone (But me, as some people got pissed at me, but I'm fine with that) and are for the most part by my friends. I don't want them removed no matter what.

Make your profile private for friends only then. That way if your comments get removed, it is in fact your friends who reported them. Or if you really cherish your comments that much, make it private only.

And honestly with the way the internet is, I wouldn't doubt it if some of your comments have already been reported because you made this thread.

None of your profile comments have been reported, so I don't really think you have anything to worry about. Moderators can't remove individual comments from Community profiles. However, the person who left the comment can delete it.

Very interesting, thank you for the information. I was just worried that someone could report a comment my friends jokingly wrote and get it removed (and get them a "warning", or something, no idea.) Since this is not the case, i am not worried anymore.

Well, did you get notified? I went through all 30 pages and reported every offensive/disallowed by steam community comment.

I suspected someone would do this, but this is not appropriate behavior. The purpose of the reporting feature is to report posts of a serious nature as you come across them. Going thru someone's history out of spite and to hunt out violations is not the intended purpose of the feature. How would you feel if I went through all 27000 of your posts and issued warnings for any rule violations? Please use common sense when it comes to an old buried post that no one views; probably not the best use of Steam support's time.
