Steam chat keeps disconnecting

After the new chat UI update, steam chat keeps disconnecting. I use steam voice chat to call my friends and we ALL would disconnect at roughly the same time so I know the problem isn't with my internet.

I am also having the same problem. I noticed i don't see topic such as this around. I am sure that i am not the only one. My friends told me that they are experiencing it as well. Now only the voice chat disconnects, the games which use steamworks are having the same problem.

Yeah, freaking annoying when playing games with yer friends and the voicechat kept disconnecting. No news about fixing this issue at all ?..

NOPE! It's not like we're the only people experiencing this, I've seen hundreds of people complaining about this but no one found a solution. I have a feeling like my Steam Chat has been disconecting less regularly now tho, is yours getting better?

Same problem here.

1. When pressing back button and go to chat again the latest text i send is gone.

Sometimes the text has a heavy delay.

2. SAA but the text never comes to the reciever at all.

I agree, this new chat by Steam has been nothing but a annoyance, the new features meant to improve quality just cut out half of what you're saying. And it keeps disconnecting which can be really annoying in the middle of a game! Steam have tried fixing what wasn't broken and they've broken it.

Can't leave well enough alone. We have trouble even connecting and have given up. No problems before. What a mess.

They really screwed Voice chat up big time. This update is stupid. Thinking they need to change stuff they don't. Everything was fine. :\

ya same, also its not registering my mic any more so my mic dont work anymore with this new steam chat.
new steam chat is also laggy and the type box is lagg I type faster than steam can register and they still have'nt made IN GAME TEXT MESSAGES TRANSPARENT SO I CAN READ FRIENDS TEXT AND GAME HEALTHBAR OR AMMO. srry caps I just really want to put that out. make transparent occupacity 50% by option under properties. its annoying when friends spam you while your trying to see all four corners of your screen for all those info bars left or right.

YUP if it aint broken dont fix it dont touch it, just make something ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ new thats not what we are using and we can have a choice to use it or not.

My solution has been to fully disable steam browser on startup and use Discord or Bnet to chat with friends. This gives you the old UI but prevents access to Steam Overlay, Steam Store, and Steam Browser. My little way of protesting/silent objection to the changes. If enough people do this Steam will have to respond with a real solution. Nothing like making a company lose money on its platform to flex the power of the consumer. DISABLE STEAM BROWSER...instructions below.

How To
It's a simple command line, if you know how to use these then you don't need to read further. Here it is: -no-browser

Alright if you don't know what to do with that, you want to navigate to whatever shortcut you use to open Steam and right click it, chose properties, and add
-no-browser
to the end of the target field box.
