steam voice chat not working

haveing an issue with the voice chat for steam, I can send and receave msg's fine but when i click the little icon to send a voice chat request..... nothing happens, like the icon is unclickable or somthing, it lights up when i mouse over it but thats it.
it's not just me eather, everyone i contacted on my friends list seems to be having the same issue.

I'm guessing this still persists even with a mic plugged in and working, that and the person being offline are the only 2 times that the voice button does not work I believe. Although, Steam Chat has been rather buggy the past week so it may just be whatever's going on with that.

oh yes! we just all forgot to plug-in our mic!
- mic is working great in dota
- can't call friend on steam chat while he is online and playing dota with me.

Yep, the mic button in the chat window has no response other than blinking white if clicked.

Hey everyone. so its not a solution to said problem, me and my gf are having the same problem you guys are, but the way we found to 'fix' the issue is to start up a group voice chat. for some reason this allows you to continue your voice chat. its one way for now to fix it until it gets patched. hope this helps everyone!

I wasn't saying that but thank you for the ****-post; I was just stating these are the only 2 things to my knowledge that block it.

But to the OP
It seems that everyone else is having the same issue, so my guess would be that Steam has somehow screwed up again, everyone will have to sit tight and wait for Steam to fix this issue- hopefully soon.
