You can actually open new "tabs" in Steam browser
Just mouse wheel click while hovering a link and it'll be opened in a new window.

That's nothing new at all. Been that way since at least the switch to chromium.

Also works with CTRL+click.

I'm astonished users still don't know about this.

I don't think it existed in IE which the old version of Steam used.

I personally wouldn't know since i haven't been around then.

Pretty sure people know about it.

It's not exactly a unique thing.

It does not work anymore. No tabs, no flab and nada, nada, nada. Also, 90 percent of links now open externally without any option or settings "switch" to make it open inside the client. :steamsalty::steamsad:

That's just the same way it works in any other browser. Middle-click has been opening new tabs for years.

All right. looks like the spaces/tab war of a fictional brogrammer show....middle click does not open a tab ala Foxy Fire but does open a windowesque tab ala IE/Iron Chromium. You need a good rodent with decent movement speed to unlock this feature.

The fact you made a post informing people of a well known feature kinda implies you at least thought it was new.

It's not a new tab though, it a new window and it makes a mess.

That's why I've written tabs in quotes.

This is not just a steam thing, most web browsers use this system...

But Steam hasn't got tabs so that's not that obvious.

I don't see how a UI showing open windows makes it less obvious that the button still operates in a webclient.

But I understand how people could not try it, It took me a while to realise too.

Steam has tabs within the pages themselves. Valve opted for that instead of tabbed windows.
