Stop no, but the ones that want to can join in. A slightly different perspective indeed.
People complain because they don't have a definitive answer because the mighty Valve are unable to legitimise a play style for a game they designed. So no, the drama is caused by Valve, it's just voiced by the users.
Cause and effect.
They should instead complain about the system itself. It's not what this topic does. So... Yeah...
If you believe that then answer the OPs question with a source from Valve.
Why are they allowed to cheat?
Afterall, if the answer is everyone can, then it's fair isn't it and the source of the complaints go away because it's not cheating if it's a legitimate play style
Cause & effect.
Im doing everything else i usually do while having a script play the game for me in the background, if at all, everyone who thinks this game was made for legit playing and actually plays it legit, wastes his time.
There are many instances in gaming where someone will have an advantage over you that would not be classified as cheating. Take time as an example, which some people have more than others and in online game's especially this can create a large gap between players. It's not the advantage that matters to determine whether something is cheating, but rather the established rules as well as equal opportunity. The reasons you've laid out why this isn't "equal opportunity" are one's based on a user's ignorance, which is not in and of itself inherently unfair. A mere few minutes investigating show quite a few options with no real potential of virus or malware infection. If someone is not knowledgeable enough to know this, then to be frank that's on them. The information is out there for anyone and everyone.
The other point, that of judgement is rather irrelevant unless you're a person who is overly concerned with what random people on a social platform think of you. People will judge you for numerous arbitrary and/or superficial reasons, but it's only a repercussion if it impacts your life. In this case it only does so if you care and I can't fathom why anyone would, in this specific instance. What comes of these random people's judgement and what bearing would it have on your life? Maybe a nasty comment on your profile. The irony being says quite a bit about the commentor themselves and not favorably. At the end of the day, it's an insignificant act, with arguably no actual consequences.
As far as point 4, when I said affects their ability to play I meant in a tangible, physical way within the game itself. Motivation is a subjective and rather flimsy thing and isn't something I was or would consider as meaningful criteria. I meant something more along the lines of wall hacks or an aim bot, which has an in game impact on you and your ability to use the mechanics of said game. I'm just not the type of person who is overly concerned with how x person chooses to play (or 'not' play in this case) a game, if it does not impact my experience within said game.
Using a script for saliens is the same as using a high quality mouse and keyboard most people can't or won't buyin csgo. Perfectly fine.
Consider how short the sales event is. Would you expect them to have time to shut it down to patch it only for the thousands of scripters out there just to find another exploit?
Rather, they're likely just turning a blind eye to it and rolling with the punches.
It would be impossible to earn the full badge playing traditionally at this point unless they add some super xp planets before the end.
They were well aware that people would script - in fact they designed the badges to accomodate scripters. This is a continuation of the 2015 game where they actively added new content for the scripters once they realized what was going on.
So yeah, this isn't turning a blind eye or not having time. If you want to play normally, go for it, there are badges to get. If you want to script, they have accomodated you as well with higher level badges that are worth basically nothing (very small chunks of Steam exp).
But don't pretend they didn't know this was coming - they planned for it.
But just because they've accommodated people using scripts doesn't mean that they want people to use them in an ideal world. It could just mean that they know it's useless to try to shut out the scripters and so they're "rolling with the punches" and accommodating them rather than trying to fight them.
