Steam overlay black screen (SOLVED)

Everytime i open a tab in steam overlay it goes black within a minute. i've tried everything, https://imgur.com/Gejmbjc any ideas?

The workaround fix of disabling GPU acceleration doesn't work well anymore with the new library changes etc. When you disable it, the steam store has odd bugs, like the mouse cursor going out of sync with the browser itself.

I found another workaround full screen doesn't work at all, windows mode 1440p doesn't work, 1080p windows mode works.

I have another solution as a temporary fix for this problem. Awkwardly Origin has a similar problem. Yes the problem is depending on which resolution and dpi you run on your display. As it seems the super duper new Steam overlay has it's problems with upscaling. I think if you run Windows on normal 100% scaling everything would work just fine. If you set it to like 150% the dpi will mess up the scaling for the overlay.
tldr. It's just a scaling problem and can be fixed by changing some compatibility properties for the steam.exe. Just go to compatibility and then go to the "High DPI-Settings". After that check the box for overwriting High DPI-Scaling and select "System".
Restart Steam - a warning will pop up that you run with compatibilty settings which can be ignored - and voilá the In-Game-Overlay is fixed.

Thanks, compatability mode fixed the issue, although steam interface becomes pretty small on 4K display, but in game overlay works properly again.
Honestly, to have this issue in 2019... lazy Valve =/

None of the above workarounds worked for me while in "game capture" on Streamlabs OBS. The Steam menu/overlay/achievements/etc. are always blacked out.

Uninstalled Steam. Removed the folder AppData/Local/Steam/ then re-installed Steam. it worked for me.

for me same but i just uninstalled steam and re downloaded it. it was fixed after.

I don't even know what fixed it for me but now can't log into youtube through browser cause it is un-secure fixing is pointless cause logging into youtube was the whole main attraction to listen to music while shift tab but r.i.p steam overlay F

Yeah i got same problem with youtube...whole google...I was also using overlay for youtube 99%...

Apparently last steam update solved the black screen problem, however now the google services login is broken indeed. Fix one thing and break another lol
