also not sure if mafia 2 has steam cloud saves
I simply have no more saved game folder for Mafia II. I didn't delete it. No great loss, but whiskey tango foxtrot.
And that wouldn't be an explanation for needing to review EULA again, as if I hadn't played the game before. And Steam still knows the hours I have put into each. Steam did not re-install anything. I have two titles I haven't tried. I'll try repair before I launch them.
The second time .. it just started to ask .. and the only thing that I did was replace a failing wireless LAN card.
Doing that also tripped a TON of other copy protection methods. Still dealing with the aftermath of that.
What I do not understand is their use of the lan card to hash the key.
I've had two fail in this machine over many years. One would work but always disconnect, requiring a reboot.
The other just stopped working entirely.
I wonder what file Valve keeps that I can backup in case this happens again.
Thanks fellas. Hopefully this is the only time this happens to me. Only annoying so far so I suppose I'm lucky it wasn't worse.
The repair route didn't help BTW.
Been using Steam since 2010 and this never happened before. Was there some kind of Steam event, server check, downtime, something? I hate mysteries.
