Does Steam Every So Often Gift Random Games?

This happened like 3 or 4 years ago. But I wanted to ask this now. All of the Half Life games just randomly appeared in my library. I had never bought a Half Life game at that time. There were no notifications. They all just appeared. With 3 exceptions:
Half Life 2, Half Life weren't included. I already had Episode 1 cause a friend gifted it to me. All the deathmatch games were here thouugh.

It doesn't show them there. Except for Episode 2. Which says ''Steam Market'' I didn't buy that game.

Okay. These games came along with Episode One when my friend gifted it to me.
