Why do free games have profile features limited?
Seriously, why do most free games have their achievements disqualified from counting towards your profile stats? Is there even ONE reason why? That detracts a significant amount from the appeal of a lot of them, and in some cases achievements that require genuine effort to unlock being all for nothing! WHY have they been disqualified?

Oh, and let me cut you off: don't even pretend it has anything to do with "preserving the integrity of Steam achievements". Steam achievements HAVE no integrity, not since Valve allowed countless cheap, lame, hacked-out trash games that exist solely to allow people to buy themselves thousands of zero-effort achievements to be sold on their platform. You know, garbage like this:

With crap like this allowed to be sold, is there ANY reason why so many free games with perfectly-valid achievements have had them disqualified from contributing to the profiles of people who take achievement-hunting seriously?

Sorry if I misunderstand you, but that's up to the Devs themselves to add the achievements as they're the ones that set it up, and have to add it into their game, and has to be API calling to the client, and calling it to tell it that you did X so you unlock Y on profile.

Here a list, of F2P games with achievements.

funny how YOU want to tell us which Games are ok and which are not.
But did you try Google the information Steam gives when F2P Games have limited features? well i guess not.

https://i.redd.it/ji3iyxq471411.png here you go, now learn to use Google and keep your "high ross" somewhere else.

AKA Games nobody cares about have limited features.

Bull. Age of Fear: the Free World has limited profile features, and it's by NO measure a "fake game". And they talk about players using fake games to inflate their achievement counts, but apparently have NO problem with players literally buying 5000 achievements from that piece of trash Achievement Clicker (because there's money being transacted, even if it's only $1.50, which means they get a cut of it, so it's fine). So clearly whatever Valve SAID they were doing, it's a load of crap.

Need a better answer.

Insofar as I take achievements seriously, it’s a personal thing. What someone else does or buys to that end is irrelevant to my satisfaction at gaining an “I did this then.” Showing off is not the object.

Aside from such an outward-facing desire, what does it matter whether your game-linked accomplishments aren’t tracked statistically in all cases?

“All for nothing” tells me you’re chasing checkboxes to show off. Is that really what doing stuff in games is about?

Not only free games has that, here is just one example of a game that cost money with the same limitations.

"We don't believe these constraints will negatively impact real games in any way, and the removal of fake games should improve the Store experience for everyone."

Riiiiiiiight. Pull the other one, Valve.

It is. The number of cheap crap on the store front page dropped dramatically.

Oh I don't know the fact that is causing you annoyance and hassle because you care more about how you can use a game to show off instead of caring about the game itself shows it is working.

That is the simple reason these limitations exist Valve can't stop devs chasing an easy quick buck but they can reduce the number of customers willing to hand over the money with these limitations.
