How steam verify the age of the user for adult and sex content? I have kids that uses steam, and now days the adult and sex content is getting bigger and bigger, is it linked to the account age? Because the only thing I can see is the age verification message.

I think it should be linked to the credit card owner age, and no one should be able to see such content unless there is credit card on record.

When Meltys first released it was before Steam allowed adult content. So it was censored with an optional adult patch you could download outside of Steam.
Since Steam allows adult pornographic games ( September 2018) the game has been updated and is now 100% uncensored without the need for any external patching.

If a game has the "adult only" warning on its store page it 100% has pornographic content in the version you download from Steam.

There are also 2 other variations of adult games, the ones that sell a censored version but offer a free/paid "18+" DLC over Steam you can download and the ones that are censored and offer a outside patch, usually mentioned in the forum as a pinned thread from the developer.
The reason for those last 2 variations in comparison to total uncensored is that the publisher wants their games to appear in the normal store to have higher visibility for their product.

Since the "adult only" marked games only are visible if you activate the option in your account settings.

The only way to perform real Age Verification is that they COME to your HOUSE, ask you to FILL IN submission form, take a PHOTO of your ID card.
If not, Age Verification is just a warning. Kids use their parents money on adult games everyday, every single hour. Not a single real method can be applied to any kind of micro-transaction/online payment.
That's a sad thing. I saw a kid with a full libraries of adult henchai game.
Really, I can't blame Steam/Valve, I blame the parents for not monitoring their children.

You should look into the family view setting for their accounts those will allow you to put limitations in place that they can't easily get past as long as you make sure they don't know the pin.

^ as above, the family view setting allows you to set a pin-code so something as easy as age verification isn't involved, meaning you can safely leave your kids alone with Steam using the pin code as added protection
