Game Sharing
Hey, there. So, I read up on the FAQ of family member game sharing or whatever, stating that if you trust another computer to access your library, they can play your games and progress on their own, but you cannot play games at the same time they are?

Basically, I'm coming from PS4, where me and my friend game share. Sometimes I'll buy a game, and he downloads it off my account and we can play it together, or he'll buy one and I download off him, etc. Does Steam not allow for this at all? Will we each have to buy our own stuff? I mean it's understandable but I'm not sure if either of us are in the position to spend that kind of money to rebuild our libraries from what we had on console.

Thanks for taking the time to read/respond.

only one account can access the library at a time. also, if you share your library and your friend earns a game/vac ban, that will also be applied to your account. you are fully responsible for who you share with, and what is on their computer(s).

This mingly roommate thing never ends well.
Buy on sales.
In a way big libraries have disadvantages when it comes to family share.

But one game cant be played as two games at once.

Im looking for answers, if I buy a shared game, will I still keep the data from when I played?

I believe so, but to be sure you should back up the files.

Thing is that some games require the 'shared' version to be removed first, and then re-applied when you buy it. I don't have the experience with this feature to tell you details, but I know that's been talked about before. I'm not sure whether ALL games must, or just some.
