Suggest most realistic (tactical) shooter

Last tactical shooter I played was a long time ago - Ghost Recon 1. Now, I am a bit tired of those battlefields and call of duty types of games, I just want to try out something more realistic, where you have to be aware of your surroundings, where you could be killed or badly wounded by just few shots, etc.

First games that comes to mind is Arma 2 ar Arma 3. What's your opinion on that guys? I also know games like Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising and OF: Red River. What about those games?

Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, priority is Single Player mode. Although it would be cool to play MP sometimes too.

Arma 2/3 - Insurgency / Insurgency Sandstorm (Iran/iraq or so) - Heros & Generals (WW2) - Hell let Loose (WW2) (not realesed i yet think) - Verdun / Tannenberg (WW1)

Maybe you find your fun in one of thoose - if not i have can highly recomend the game Mordhau ( Medival, hack and slash (with bows and Throwingweapons too) not a shooter yes but def. worth of takin a look ^^

For Arma one of the key elements that makes it different from rival games is the sheer scale of the area gameplay takes place in. Things like SMGs and handguns are rarely useful because they lack the range to do anything most of the time. Unless you have a weak PC you will also be able to see enemies in open areas at ranges where you can't hit them with your rifle (often doesn't stop the AI from trying and wasting all their ammo if they ever manage to spot you). This leads to stuff like scouting actually being useful since you can get info about stuff long before you can just shoot.
