Steam asks for survey after reboot.
So yeah, Steam just rebooted for an update, nothing out of the ordinary about that. But then it asked if I would take the survey. I figured, what could be the harm in expressing my opinions about Steam? Right?

But yeah, there were no questions, no chance for feedback, nothing. It just scanned my PC for its specifications and then gave me no other option but to "finish" the survey.

To be honest, I feel like I was just digitally sexually molested.

I did not give consent for the gathering of my system information. They lied to me to get something they wanted.

Do not take the survey. They do not care about what you have to say at all. This so-called survey is nothing more than them gathering your system specifications. They do not ask one single question. The so-called survey scans your computer to check your hardware and that is all it does. No feedback, no questions.

Do not "take" the survey.

I would feel totally different if they just asked if they could scan my PC for its specs. I would have agreed to it, most likely. But it is the lie they fed me. It was just dirty.

This was not a survey. They called it a survey, you just called it a survey, but it was not a survey.

It is called the "Steam Hardware & Software Survey" for a reason.

It is completely optional. It is NOT mandatory. Has been for ages.

When the data is updated, it will be here... https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

You clicking the OK button instead of reading what it says is the issue.

As I said, just clicking OK before reading is the issue.

OP... If you had an issue with the survey, don't click on "Help" at the top of the client and then choose "System Information."

It does the same thing.

Yes, because I did not mention them it means that I like it when they do it too.

Come on, what kind of an argument is that? Get real. You are just jumping on the bandwagon. You don't actually have an argument, so you just took up the flag of the others.

And you can join them in being ignored as well. I have no time for sympathizers.

What 'argument' is there?

You clicked on OKAY when you didn't mean to. Next time, read.

Also, never - ever - ask for technical help. because 100% of help requests that get answers *REQUIRE* the "system information" copy-paste.

If you're that concerned with being 'molested' by a hardware survey, you need to stop using your computer and phone, *right now*. Otherwise you're basically a whiny hypocrite.

OP .... what do you think a surveyor does?
Stop gaming kids better you go out from your mom garage

"gathering your system specifications" its not harmless its can help developer to know the user on steam so they can plan how the game will be optimise in some hardware.... valve know some people are intollerant so that why they do it for the dev and the player

If you think want something that more dangerous go use epic game they scan your pc without even giving any notification... they scan not the spec but scan your file and data and saving your bank information

Problem solve

Besides its a great way to find your system specs.
Steam Client>Go to Help at the top, system information.
Edit
when you have a look at your system specs compare them you'll see this
Steam Hardware & Software Survey: April 2019
Steam conducts a monthly survey to collect data about what kinds of computer hardware and software our customers are using. Participation in the survey is optional, and anonymous. The information gathered is incredibly helpful to us as we make decisions about what kinds of technology investments to make and products to offer.

Steam is a games client what is your problem.

You need to click the ok button in order for this to happen, next time, try reading what it says
