Steam crashes now

I have been using Steam for years without ever having it crash and within days of the UI update (which I do not care about) reaching me I had two crashes already (one by clicking somewhere in the new library, the other on steam startup). I'm a bit skeptical...

I am also experiencing that, they really shouldn't have pushed this update out like this, at the very least it should have been optional.

They also shouldn't have tried launching it while asking us to nominate games for the 2019 Steam Awards. Steam's actions might have caused some unfair consequences for some of these games. As a result, people might write negative reviews about some of these games and not only does that make others think more poorly of the game as far as nominations go, it also deters them from buying the game during Steam's sales.

After testing the beta update, the issue is still persisting. After troubleshooting some more I have managed to locate the potential cause of the issue, for some reason one of the "steam client webhelper" tasks is completely glitching out at random (usually after exiting a game), I cannot even force close the task, even shutting down steam doesn't close it. Afterwards it completely freezes my system and I have to completely reboot the computer.

Yep, it will probably be patched. Have patience and find a workaround until then.
Try logging out and logging back in, cleaning cache, ect ect.

I got the crash when I was scrolling through my steam library then things start go wrong. Computer got blue screen, stopped a few minutes then back to normal with screwed up fonts. After that I tried to use my browsers like Firefox and Chrome, they both crash with grey window. I restarted my pc a few times but it doesnt work... does it sound like a virus?

This new version is a joke. What a clustered piece of crap. I can't scroll through my games/library list without it lagging and taking forever. I have to click the Add Game button 3 times for it to work/open correctly. This is BS!

I'm constantly afraid of even opening steam's UI because it will almost always guarantee a blue screen on Windows 10

Can anyone help installed steam, ran for 2 days then it started crashing. Steam starts up but crashes within a minute, start games up on it and again within a minute they crash. Tried clearing the appcache files like people say, closing anti-virus down and all the other steps but nothing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but still the same problem, checked and every driver is upto date. Contacted steam and with the dump files i provided them with they say they cant find what the problem is and passed the files on to the developer and should wait for any updates.

I have to admit after an update weeks ago [perhaps like 2/3 months ago Steam login and startup screen since then [which I set to even friendlist] loads very very very slow it takes perhaps 30+ seconds for everything to start working normally and i need to click on load Steam again for it to force load after login x''D bypass logic!!.. I think you got the huge hit of the Steam update :''[ idk why Steam wanted to make everything high tech WOW factor... For gamers things being simple and working properly is more satisfying than it being Gucci wow factor and not working at all

I am not an expert but it seems like it.. But the big question is. Does this virus come from Steam or not?? x''DD Tbh my pc also went a bit weird a while ago.. Does this mean it is Steam messing with whole pc system?? ;''OOOOO!!!!! Like.... I want to suggest Steam cut the crap with all this good looking layout updates upon updates which only make gaming more sour and depressing Tbh before updates could be manually done and many did not update Steam untill things went wrong.. Now it auto updates at every login... This forcing updates to newer flashier version basically F***Ked up for many Steam users. If Steam had good considerate customer service they would have left the option for the user to decide is my opinion...

idk how long you are using Steam, but in the past many users did not update untill things went wrong in Steam. Now it updates every logout and login.. and things got screwed up badly for many users.... This basically is forcing users into a problematic situation. This could was all avoidable if they let users decide to update to new version or not.... But steam decided to push all users into the NEW MODE and it is getting worse and worse for more and more people.. Bcs my Steam was fine after transition untill some weeks ago... it loads so slow and I need to click load Steam again after login... to make it start and work.. This is just sad.... after long day many guys just want a simpel Steam to load so they can game and chill with a beer xD and not mess with these loading issues and crashes after a long 5 day blue collar working day x''DDD Vanity is not everything what people not get??

Dont mean to necro post. But the problem is still here so it really isnt necro posting. Sometimes I hit play on a steam game or am just browsing steam when suddenly it says not responding and sometimes it downright crashes but luckily last time it happened (yesterday) I jsut restarted steam but it's extremely creepy and hope it's not my PC. But this glitch has happened a 3 times in the last month.
