Steam owns me a new video card, after the new library.
Example, i now have problems running torchlight 1 smoothly. A game from 2009, now uses 30% of 4 gigabyte. Where it was once less then 5%.

They don't owe you anything.

You don't seem to understand justified loss.

Justified loss, 1st they come up with a crappy dll. Now with this library update. They should have tested it 1st. They need to release the games so we can play offline and online without steam running. It's a store, they don't own the games. But now they hijacked them, they are saying either buy a new gpu. Or forget playing your games. They can't advertise certain games anymore, under the pretence that they will run. They need to add a line, new steam library uses up a minimum of 1gb gpu ram.

Valve has no say in IF a game uses the SteamDRM wrapper or not. That is on the game dev alone.

It sounds more like a bug. I see no difference in GPU usage at all.

That also has nothing to do with Steam. If the game is using that memory then its the game developers issues. It's not their software.
You are all daft, everyone is complaining that since the new library more memory is been used. No warning in front. I have the game less then 4 days now, no problems until yesterday when the new library was installed. I want the old library back.

RAM =/= GPU DRAM

That should not prevent you from playing the game without any issues, as you still have 70% of unused ram by that calculation....

It doesnt matter.

A program can use 100 MB of ram and STILL affect the whole lot of performance... -.- Ram doesnt just mean "You can run multiple programs/games at once"...

You said the game is taking more memory. The game and the library are two totally seperate applications.

So unless your OP was completely wrong and you didn't explain your issue correctly at all the only one who is daft is you.

If the torchlight exe is all of a sudden taking more memory then that has nothing to do with the steam UI taking more memory.

The game and other games are using more memory now with the new steam library. I have torchlight GOG, no problems. And also with the steam version no problems until the library update.
Witcher 3, fallout 4, all use 1 gig more under steam offline or online. It's the anti copy steam dll.

Witcher 3 is DRM free... (i guess that's what you mean by "dll")
My library is super laggy now with some slight screen tear when scrolling. What even is this? I hate it. I hate it so much.
