Workaround for small mode:
Postat inițial de eram:
There are several ways to get the old version back, 1 way is to copy all the old files and force steam to not update. I don't recommend this method at all so i made a simple way to launch steam in small mode instead.

Via a desktop shortcut with no stopping updates or having to copy over old files.

Very simple just add the following to a text file and rename it whatever you like .bat instead of .txt

echo off@
start steam://open/minigameslist
Test

Steam Client Beta - December 18, 2019
DEC 18 @ 5:08PM - PHILIPLA
The Steam Client Beta has been updated with the following changes:

General
  • Fixed the overlay not working correctly or crashing some DXGI/DX12 games in upcoming Windows Insider builds.
Library
  • Added sort by Steam Review to shelves and app grids.
  • Fixed an issue where removing the last non-Steam game from a collection would cause it to spontaneously reappear at a later time like an unwanted holiday houseguest.
Linux
  • Only execute steam-runtime-system-info when needed for diagnostics.

It eats ELEVEN PERCENT of my CPU, lmao
Are there any ways to return the old library?
This means you have 89% more ayy
Steam should add in next update,"how many hours spent in new library",as well as games.

eyyyyyyy
Left a comment yesterday voicing my displeasure and why. After further use I still think it blows and is WAY TOO BUSY!!! I don't need to see a bunch of crappy screenshots or anything from "Community Content" when I'm looking for a game to play. It's distracting from the key points of the library...to show me my games, allow me to filter them in a useful manner, and provide links to other content related to the game I might find useful but NOT plaster it ALL OVER the damn screen.

K.I.S.S. fer cryin' out loud...:rage: New library is garbage. No respect given to basic design theory beyond "frame for this, frame for that, put 'em all together on one page and whaddya got? Bippity-boppity-visual-puke-fest".
"Fish or cut bait"
I don't understand why they nixed small mode. Clearly it's still built-in, so why remove it from the View menu?

I love the new UI, it just needs more options, like one to disable community content altogether, right now it's just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of useless pics and a true hazard for spoilers just like the old news feed was.

dude how CAN YOU see GAME TITLES? THEYRE HORIZONTAL IMAGES SQUISHED INTO STREAKY VERYTICAL ONES!? BRING BACK HORIZONTAL IMAGES!!!!

Luckily its already massively dying down. Last 2 days barely 200 new posts got added to the mega thread.
Compared to the thousands on the first few days that is not much.
And i see more and more posts like " well after using it for a few days i actually like feature XXX".

Give people enough time to try something they may find its not as bad as they first thought.

Again, does not mean that there are no users who legitimate hate this new UI and are angry.
There are quiet a few. But you get that with every major change to a long established design/system.
Humans in general dont like change very much.

I graduated school 31 years ago but imagine going to school and every time you opened your mouth you were bullied, told to STFU, called all kinds of names. Would you ever want to go back to school again?

That is what has been happening on here. People have stopped posting their displeasure not because they "magically" like it now, there are a number of factors people do not want to admit are going on as well.

1) People feel that whatever they say is getting ignored and is being buried no matter what the problem is so why bother?

Feedback was given during the beta. All of it was ignored and "stable" was pushed out anyway with no acknowledgement of any of the feedback that was given.

One person has a problem with performance issues, another dislikes the clunky and non user friendly UI, and another has health issues due to all the "busy activity" forced on the new UI. 3 separate issues all just thrown together into the "I hate the new UI" forum.

2) Most people have already said their peace and some don't feel the need to keep posting as they still believe that Steam / Valve is listening.

3) As I stated earlier, it seems every time anyone says anything negative (whether constructive or not) it's met with nasty resistance. Have you ever seen a game forum where it was called "toxic"? If you look at it, it is not the negative posters who make it that way, it's the nasty name calling and the pure rude attitudes of the "supporters".

So yes, it has died down, but not because they suddenly saw the light, its for the reasons I just mentioned.

I personally have yet to even get the new UI as I have never closed steam or shut of my PC.

I do not like what I have seen on the new UI. I still have a flip phone, I do not have a FB account, I don't do social media. I like things simple and functional. Plus I suffer from misanthropy IRL so why would I (and others like me) be happy with a freaking smart phone layout with everything so huge and right in your face.

A library (to me) should be for your game list only. If I want to see what my friends are up to, I will go look at the activity page. If I want to buy a game, I will go to the store page. If I want to see the new game updates, I check the news section on the game itself. As it stands now, it's all just thrown on the page making all the other tabs that have those same functions redundant.

When the day comes that this new UI is pushed on me, you can guarantee I will be shutting off as much as humanly possible and have just my list of games.

Like the salesman who tried to get me to trade in my flip phone for a new smart phone. I told him that I will not use 99% of the functions so why would I want a phone with all the bells and whistles??

Maybe the fervor against the new UI is dying down. Not because the problem's solved, but rather because I, and others like me, are taking our business elsewhere. I said my piece, and apparently not for the last time. I am still seething. If they want another singe penny from me, Steam will give back the option of the old UI. There are way too many other game sellers for this sort of heavy handed behavior, and complete deafness to customer outrage. But, remember this, all you Steam apologists, if Steam continues to ignore customers, it will die and whither on the vine. Ask yourself, how will you access your game library if Steam torques off enough customers, they jump to other online retailers, and Steam is forced to close its doors? Think it can't happen? Even the largest companies in the world should live in constant fear of going under. Steam is no exception. Ignoring customer concerns is a sure fire way to close a shop for good. If Steam folds, you will have no library of games anymore. Or, do you think Steam will let you download all your games DRM free before they close the doors for good?
the new library is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. i absolutely hate THE ENTIRE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ UI. and the fact that i cant take it away makes me even more angry. the original has been AMAZING for the last 10 years. if it aint broke why the ♥♥♥♥ are you trying to fix it? there was nothing wrong with the original UI. i dont want to see EVERY SINGLE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ STEAM USERS ACHIEVEMENTS! I DONT GIVE TWO ♥♥♥♥♥ ABOUT THAT ♥♥♥♥! What i want, is steam to ♥♥♥♥ RIGHT OFF and give me back the option to use the "beta" or use the "original" UI. its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded.

Have you considered that those people that have gone quiet are actually doing something about it. We complained, we didn't receive any answer nor concession, so the next step is action.

I didn't intend to post here today because I no longer care, steam is no longer important to me, I am moving on. The damage cannot be repaired.

You can disable the community content. Settings > Library > Very Bottom Option.

P.S Client Update.

Bye, have a good time. See you next week.
The New UI layout looks like a throw-away from Google or Battle-Net. It's like Steam forgot who Steam was and is now trying to be Steavision, or Bleam.

Whatever it is, it is not pretty.

Bring back Classic Steam, or give us an option to choose it as a skin!
