all paired with artwork that no longer shows, and lumped into a single category.
literally amazed they didnt make categories transfer over.
years of my life gone to waste.
At least they saved me from years more. Steam is no longer gonna be my frontend. Shame.
In the client on the left side, under the search box is a drop down list.
in that list you should see the following:
Games
Software
Videos
Tools

Group by Collection
Make sure 'Group by Collection' is checked.
Ironically, theyre all there just fine in BPM. Im really unsure of what to do at this point.
I find that odd.
I have a ton of categories and they all got migrated to the new library.

So I don't understand why yours don't appear in the client.
The tool tip mentions showing only games that are currently installed or ready to stream.
I found that clicking that at least restored my carefully organised game categories, so try that.
It seems the new update may defaults to some other random criteria for displaying the games instead and you need to over ride that choice by clicking the icon to revert to your prior list...
Anyway, I just updated to the new library and was horrified to see that it was listing all the games I had ever bought on Steam since I begun in 2005.
By default, and not in my preferred set categories I had been using for the past many years either so yeah.
That, plus the new lay out was quite the shock even with knowledge that the update would happen.
Did you try what I mentioned in #3?
I have, unfortunately they seem to be gone and my library is a ~700 game mess
Well you could try like in #4 and open Big Picture Mode and see if your categories are stil present there.
They aren't there either. I don't think I have many options here, thanks for trying to help though
If it's any consolation the new dynamic collection at least makes recreating most if not all categories easier.
Try the top left where the search bar says games - there is a tiny "play" icon inside a circle?

Also you can disable the automatic "community" feeds in your library, reduce the size of the tiles and give a little better performance with the new options via Steam -- Settings -- Library.
Helps a little with the visual overload.
They are Low bandwidth mode, low performance mode, and display size for user interface elements.
