Index USB Device not recognized
Brand new computer, Aorus Master Motherboard with an i9-9900k.
Barely any USB ports used.

Upon plugging in my Index for the first time I get the dreaded USB device not
recognized. Device Descriptor Request Failed.

I have tried every single usb port available, moved dp cables, updated all drivers.
Uninstalled and Re-Installed Steam and Steam VR.. The headset sits in Standy Mode.
Unplugged and plugged from the headset, the main break..

Somehow I was able to get it to recognize in some miraculous flurry of plugging and
re-installing... Set up the system and was able to get a brief look into how amazing
this unit is..

Then I left....

Came back a couple hours later, moved my base stations to a better location, re-config
the room and was about ready to go and I'm back to the headset not being recognized.
I have repeated every single step I did before. Uninstalling and reinstalling and still
the HMD remains in standby mode.

Upon searching the interweb for similar problems it seems I am not alone in the
fight with this particular issue plaguing this headset.

Any suggestions on a fix? I hope Steam in on this cause it's a very expensive
room warmer in my office atm..

The usual cause for this (which I had myself) are questionable USB-controllers. Install a USB controller card and see if that changes things.

Tried a USB controller card and still nothing. :(

Can try connecting via USB hub - sometimes helps in similar situations. Or maybe the device itself just doesn't work (like cable broke, etc) - try in on some other PC first.

I think there is a bad connection near the headset. It seems I can push on the cable and get it to work. Then I let go and it reverts back to not being detected...

On Windows 10 Update screen, there are "Optional Updates" listed.
I had one for USB. I installed it a little bit ago, and haven't seen the usb error message pop up since. But your own experience may differ.
