Do i need it? i deleted it and cant get it back

If... it's working fine, that's ... good? You have to remember that different VERSIONS of directx exist, and it might run on one that you don't have installed.

Common files are called that for a reason, since more than one product, software, or game might need to use them.

im just worried of something happening later on like content not being in the game or something or graphics issues i would think i would get some kind of notification if i was missing something i needed rihgt? i also have commonredist folder in another game directory so would this game be using that or something?

Yes you do need it. If your visual c get corrupted in that folder you can fix it by uninstalling all visual c or direct x and reinstall it threw commonredist.
Cause sometimes these get corrupted .
So I told the fix.

i never said anything was corrupted though what youve said doesnt make any sense to me how do i reinstall something i apparently dont even need through something i dont even have?

Just because something isn't visibly wrong to you right now, does not mean it will ALWAYS work fine.

Your game is working right?
Enjoy it.

And don't worry about it ... whenever you install/re-install a game steam will try to re-install the dependencies too or at least verify you have them installed ...

In regards of the _commonredist files being removed from game folders ... they are all being moved to the steamworks shared folder little by little to avoid having the same files dozens of times on your HDDs/SDDs, saving you gigabytes of storage ... because of this you may see 0 byte updates for many games (in batches) now and again.
