Despite having internet speed of 50mb/s the download speed is 600kbs why?
Steam has really bad download speed
Is there something i can do to increase it?

same i just got a new pc today so re installing all games and the best i have had all day is 1.8 mbps but its in the 500kbps now

Settings -> Downloads -> Download Region. You can try and change that if you think there's a better one around. You can also check the Stats page to see how the network is doing.

I had 5.3mb/s now 500kbs

Download region is like 600km from my place( Nearest)

Try all download servers until you find one with speeds you are happy with.

There are over 130 to try.

Any server near me was slow as dirt. Nearest does not always equal faster.

Today, Rio was better for me. Yesterday, S. Korea was better. Btw... I'm on the East Coast.

Also note that genreally speaking your download speed is limited not by bandwidth, but by your CPU and IO
