Epic is starting to worry me
Despite massive backlash from their practices, Epic hasn’t let up even slightly. They have financial backing from Disney and Tencent, two of the largest corporations in the world, and a massive cash flow from Fortnite and unreal engine, the former being the most popular game in the world and the latter being the most popular commercial game engine in the world.

I feel like no amount of consumer backlash will stop them getting the monopoly they obviously want. They can just keep throwing money around until they control the entire games industry. I miss the days before mega corporations entered this industry.

Whereas Epic users have no forums and their fans only use Steams forum to bash Valve.

Why aren't you folks playing all those great exclusives instead of bashing Steam?

Do you go to Wal Mart and bash them while saying how much better Target is as a store?
Where else would thety go. If they did it on EGS's forums, who would see it?

They do have a subreddit on reddit, but ironically the anti-Epic Games Subreddit is about 5 or 6 times as big as the Epic Games Subreddit.

Also most of the EGS Subreddit posts are technical issues with the store or "Epic Good" Circlejerk comments claiming that whatever Epic did was good or whatever. The Anti-Epic Games Subreddit, "r/F***Epic" on the other hand actually covers Epic's latest blunder of the week more often than not, in addition to being home to memes and posts that are just circle-jerk-y about Epic. It's basically the opposite of the Pro-Epic Subreddit. It even has users of EGS asking for technical issue help there too, although the number one answer usually is "Uninstall EGS".

They do have those unofficial forums, but they aren't really doing a positive job as much as an official one would do. Not sure if they have a discord since I don't use Discord, but at least on Reddit they have an unofficial community and an Anti-Epic community which is 3-5 times larger, in addition to being flamed on official PC Gaming oriented subreddits.

What is the timeline on EGS forum? Maybe they are so cash strapped because of 12%, they cant stand the server cost to maintain it. Especially with how many people are buying games on Epic. :P
The lack of a forum is not due to a alck of anything but rather due to foresight. they know they tactics are going to make gamers angry and they knew in advance that their forum would be an eternal bonfire. so No forum. This means th vitriol gets splattered over other places.

Their lackl of a cart is essentially a calculated move as well. It's to havbitualize people into buying.

I'm happy Bandai Namco is still opposed to Exclusivity, hope they, like SEGA, continue to be opposed to exclusivity like that.

Some niche games cannot go exclusive else it wouldn't sell at all.

Safe to be anime fans for now, but imagine something like Yakuza in EGS.

I am certain EGS doesn't see anything on Anime/Japanese weeb games, but they'll target every games that seemingly going to sell alot.

Them scanning steam actually made me curious because it appears they somehow know which game is most wishlisted .

Steam have always been very open with their api, that's why there are steamdb and other chrome extensions that help with trading and such.Epic also hires Sergey Galoykin, he used to run steamspy, another pos to rival Tim Sweeney. I'm guessing he brings his know how to get all those data.

Here i though Steamspy or steamdb data total sales arent that much accurate anymore.

The only one that know number of people wishlisted their games on steam is the developer though,

Wouldn't be surprised if Galyonkin didn't find a way to harvest some wishlist data for Epic so they know which titles to try and moneyhat.

After all Epic "who is totally for the devs(tm)" is only going after heavy-hitter indies, well-knowns, and things that have already gotten a good amount of attention.

Some of them isn't even released.
The DARQ games isn't even released by that time,
I noticed that dev themselves said that their game is top 50 wishlisted games in steam.

Connecting the dots with steam API back then when epic "trying to scan it", it reached valve and they tell us it acts for a login token for each user as it shows number of wishlist, friends, etc.
Epic said they're just using it as a method to scan friendliest or something about old files that somehow went active?

It sounds like the guy's wanting to support Google Stadia. I'm not fond of the subscription method because you have keep paying for it. As someone who has bought games that have been removed from digital stores before (Doctor Who, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World The Game, Deadpool, Ghostbusters The Video Game, and Kung Fu Panda Showdown of Legendary Legends), I fear losing what I paid for.

The guy is honestly all over the road, which makes sense... he's an executive. They'll beat around the bush, say very very little in as many words as possible, and put out fluff out of fear of burning future bridges for business deals.

...And of course everyone on the business side is excited for streaming it's their fabled panacea for "piracy" and "empty financial quarters". Most people will sub ♥♥♥♥ and then not use it super heavily and forget to cancel their sub when they aren't using it.
The gaming industry wants to move games to subscription so they can make you pay for games like people do their cable bills and have no rights whatsoever. With Cable TV, you have a ton of channels, many of nobody watches, and you'll only want a few, but you can't pick and choose.

Then they can abandon/remove do whatever they want to with games and nobody has any say.

Delete the old versions of games, make new games where you have to start from scratch.

Heck, look at the consoles, they have that subscription model and you pay for online, but that's what sells.

Sidenote tthere's another worry with streaming you're missing there. Besides stuff permanently disappearing and no rights... it would reward MMO-esque game design more than it already does. Time-gates, dripfeed, endless progression grind, stuff rolled out over months and years... More than we already have to deal with even with DLCs and "live service"models.
