go suck your ego on this video and many of them on youtube regarding starbound soda exploit
stupid
And all those points are useless if someone doesn't spend money to get a bigger maximum capacity. So again, not an exploit.
One last time - you could never claim over your cap limit. It was never possible. It's been confirmed. Find me an offical source from either Valve or Chucklfish that shows there was a server side patch. Where did people find out about this patch? Random videos on Youtube isn't a source.
The only weirdness was that some people's max points got reset due to day one server load - it made people believe there was a magical glitch. We know there wasn't because loads of other user were unaffected by the server "lag". Loads of people were very upset that they bought Starbound for no reaseon. And that was all before Steam mucked with the calculations on the infamous 4th day.
Everyone always knows "a guy". Weird that guy never comes along or shows how he actually achieved it.
Edit: Apologies to Junylar - I thought we were still busy with Starbound. That nearly gave me a heart attack. Starbound V2....
yeah, we know all this, but: starbound has nothing to do with it. i opened my old ZUP games with a lot of achievements for 30min and hat way more points then any starbound-"exploit"-user.
the bug exploit you mentioned was done by some guys who edited the code of the site and sent edited numbers to the steam servers
That one was actually there, there were a bunch of people with 20.000+ level Steam accounts.
A thread on Reddit I quickly found: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/c5splq/steam_needs_to_reset_all_the_grand_prix_badges_to/
And the group they made: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/20000collector
With a discussion post and a Youtube video they made with accounts on 20000+: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/20000collector/discussions/0/1639789306537892005/
Is that what he's on about? Thanks for clearing that up.
Yeah, totally misunderstood the what he was talking about. :)
It was definitely possible to inspect and change certain values. Valve addressed it in a vague way with one of their early announcements.
No worries. This event had so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy things that I can imagine we forget things quickly.
As my friend Start_Running said, this has indeed a Wacky Racers vibe.
Earlier this list contained people with levels up to 29k. Here is a screenshot of it just after it was fixed: http://is2.4chan.org/v/1561507359093.png (EDIT: Jesus, they even censor the name of the site, but whatever, people above provided enough PROOFS already)
But of couse it's all LIES and the screen is photoshopped by the evil bourgeoise enemies of the people, this event is flawless and so on.
As for the guy, I could have provided a link to his profile, if it wasn't against the rules of steam community.
Thanks - I apologised at the top but I'll do it here as well.
I thought we were still busy with Starbound. That nearly gave me a heart attack. Starbound V2....Sorry.
it´s no info from "a guy" than anybody knows, is was duscussed in some threads, not much information in this though:

The original guy was a YouTuber by the name of SpiffyBrit - he has a series where he, for the sake of comedy, tries to "break" games using weird mechanics. He's been doing it for years. No one has ever taken it seriously. He once planted a gazillion trees to build a prison in a game. Basically, the video went viral so there's little he can do now.
