Steam Summer Sale 2019 - Level Bug

As I'm sure most others have, since the steam summer sale has come out I've spent a ridiculous amount of money on games and I've been working on leveling up my account as when it started I was level 121 on steam.

When the badge was first released, I got it to level 1000 very quickly and at that point having attempted to get it to level 1001 it reset back to level 1, and I started once again leveling it up. However I've now realized when it reset it literally took back all my earned XP and put me at a huge deficit in XP despite retaining my rank.

I've submitted a support ticket on steam under "account details" as I literally could find nothing else of use on there. I've tried to post this on reddit with no luck also.

Have you done any refunds?

Buying a game, spending the points and then refunding will see you retain your Stream level but the bracket to reach the next one is extended based on the points you spent on the refunded game.

This stops points abuse.

Sorry to say this but starbound is not really exploit, i mean its not that hard to get points but the problem is boost capacity, I'm pretty sure people who bought starbound forget about that part lol, and valve are not going to fix the "exploit" because, well it makes them money, they buy starbound then they get crazy amount of points (2k is nothing tbh) then they notice that they need to increase their capacity, so they buy more games for that, its win win for valve

I think he fixed the bug since he is level 231, or he was trolling and changed xp to minus with inspect elements

Same thing happened with me after i refunded a game i bought at the beginning of sale, it was not fixed so i had to use 4900 XP to go from level 87 to 88,it takes 900xp btw to go from 87 to 89. It happened after i got the refund so ithought maybe that caused it.

Don't spread unfounded rumours.

There was no Starbound exploit - getting points doesn't do anything and doesn't raise your max points cap. No one was punished for using it since it didn't do anything. So someone got 1894795 mil points drinking soda? Oh, but their cap was only 1000? Ouch.

Starbound was actually the worse and slowest option. Idling one game you have loads of achievements in for 30 min would give you more points than you'd ever need.
