First person horror/exploration
I like the Youtube videos where abandoned old mansions are explored. Currently play BO4 and Warhammer 2. Would like to try a new type of game... first person, preferably exploring a mansion or castle, good graphics for realism, some monster/boss killing is ok but I dont want to constantly fight monsters. In trying to research this, Layers of Fear, Visage, and RE7 look like possibilities. Curious about your suggestions. Thanks!

Amnesia, Scratches, Perception, Pathologic, Outlast, Unforgiving... ...honestly, the list just goes on. There's no end to these kinds of games, lately. They shouldn't be too hard to find if you do a little digging, and just click around on the "more games like this" area for a bit. Meanwhile, I really just want something like Silent Hill, with a few monsters and bosses to fight, a creepy story, genuinely scary and atmospheric, mindbendingly surreal, and with plenty of confusing symbolism and allegories that I don't understand but which fascinate me nonetheless.

This one has more of a psychological factor but was a good experience:

Amnesia and Penumbra are also amazing but you would have to let go of the graphic quality requirement.

Thanks for the ideas. Outlast Trinity has a pretty nice sale currently.

Everybody here has pretty much recommended adequate games to what you're looking for, so if I may go a little more outside the box of what you're looking for... SOMA is made by the same development team behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It takes place in an underwater scientific research facility in the future. It's got a great plot, creepy as hell monsters that you can't fight back against, and a pretty intense and all around creepy atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

Ok I will give SOMA a look also. The prices on these few year old games seem quite good on the current sale

Again thanks for the ideas. I bought Soma and the Outlast Trinity which seem like they will be a good intro into this genre.. and $15 for this group seemed like a steal!

Decided to buy Amnesia and Layers of Fear also... at these prices, why not stock up on known good games ;)

If you want an old puzzle game (with fantastic video graphics for back in the day, it was groundbreaking when it came out many moons ago) then there is 7th Guest. It freaked me out as a little kid, but wouldn't earn its 18 rating nowadays. But its a sort of horror/mystery/intrigue puzzle game set in an abandoned mansion and you have to figure out what happened there. Its puzzles interspliced with live action footage. They recently made a remake (I think they cleaned it up a bit) but I haven't actually played it yet to compare with the original. I have both but haven't played it really on Steam yet. But I played it as a kid on the CDI player. So most of my memories of what it was like were from that.
No jumpscares or monsters as far as I remember. Just a spooky mystery to solve as you explore the house.
