If that’s what a person wants most, it’s no mistake. Just because you see a giveaway as an opportunity to, as you see it, maximize a payout does not make such an attitude a part of the natural order.
Most people have sensibly loaded their wishlist top slots with pricey AAA games like Cyberpunk 2077, Sekiro and Octopath Traveller. Even if there are better cheaper games available right now, logic and tactics would dictate you go for pricey ones and simply buy the bargain bin titles yourself.
And considering how getting a new PC is expensive and how the average person isn't loaded with money, what would be the point in trying to get a free game you won't be able to play for a year anyway? And if you manage to make the money for a new PC, you'll probably be able to afford the game as well anyway.
Better off going for something you know you can play and get enjoyment out of, end of the day you're still saving yourself money and having a good time. After all, we get games to have fun, not to sink dozens of money into them.
