I noticed another 100+ reply discussion after I posted mine. I think my point stands on it's own merits.
Does steam really need to be a hentai marketplace?
As for recommendations, Steam will only recommend you Anime games if you bought anime games, or any game tagged as "Anime".
It need not. But is that a pertinent question to ask? What, in fact, does a store need to be? Do the titles under discussion fit within those bounds?
illegal games and ones that break laws yeah that won't ever happen.
That's a valid point thanks for bringing it up. I don't have any kids, I'm 41 and living the dream.
What I'm concerned with is far more nuanced than some hand wringing religious / moral / personal issue with hentai. I really don't care about the content my concern is that the steam store is filled with blatantly horrible early access games and tentacle porn. It's harder and harder each year to find something decent on here.
People have mentioned the filtering and yeah I know it's a thing. It's also hard not getting decent content stuck in the filter - that's the reason why mine is off right now.
I'll put this a different way. When you sell quality content people will know that you are trustworthy and worth a look. When you sell low quality to scam content people get burned, frustrated and ultimately look for competitors. Epic is a huge competitor right now and bluntly I see them putting some major pain on steam in the near future if valve leadership doesn't see the light and stop acting like a monopoly flea market selling $5 shareware disks.
I've been on steam since the promo way back in the day when the first game (I dare say half life 2) was first installed with the steam client as a requirement. I wish the platform well and it's mostly treated me well but times are changing.
Please allow me to teach you a little time management.
Dont make a fuss just turn the page as no one period stroke period owes you a shopfront tailored to your personal tastes.
Steam tries to but as yet its not perfect.
