How do I sort by Last Played Date in the new awful Library?

Is sorting another function that was completely removed with this atrociously bad Library?

Why is it awful?
Why help if you hate it. Just opt into the beta.
Games in the library list cant be sorted like that never was? How did you sort the old library by last played time before .
Open the Home Tab> look under the What's New" on the left side
See the description of the next shelf there is an arrow next to it >select Recent Games.

In the Library highlight the game you play. When you close Steam open again clicking on Library only ( no sub menu) it returns you to the library with highlighted game. As it was.

Isn't the left side bar the default 'last played' and in order by month? ... O.O

You proved why it's awful in your text message itself.

You're completely unaware that the previous Library had both a "List View" and a "Grid View". The List View was a giant table of all my games where I could sort by game name, installed/uninstalled, last played date, publisher, metascore, and size on disk. One click and I could sort my games.

The new Library has NONE of these features. You're saying I have to opt into the beta in order to be able to sort?

It's in alphabetical order for me.

You should be able to change that with one click, I mean... mine isn't in alphabetical order -I'm talking about the left sidebar, not the 'big window', just so we're clear.

Alright, I see how this works. If I want to sort by Size on Disk or Metacritic, etc. I have to go to Home, click "Add Shelf", and then specify the sort option.

So what is that, 4 mouse clicks for something that only took 1 mouse click before?

The grid view can be sorted by last played by clicking the sort button and choosing last played. I'm pretty sure list view will come back some day, but you can still sort by last played.

And of course as others pointed out, you can sort by recent in the left window as well.

I need the exact last played date down to the day for a script that I run, so that button is completely worthless for me. It's not the same thing as the "Lasted played" field.

You can click "Games" in the left window and uncheck sort by collection, then click all if you want to sort All games as opposed to a collection. It is an extra click to choose a collection in general, but you don't have to add a shelf to sort by last played. You can click the collection name on the left list to bring up a grid view. I hope and believe they will bring back the main window list view for the people that miss it.
