[SOLVED]Client opens browser to error page
I've had to stop using the client and not have access to my games at all now because the file verification updater updated the Steam Client to the new layout. It constantly opens my default browser and spams a new tab every second trying to open http://error/

It did this even though I have the -noverifyfiles switch in the target properties for the client executable.

It just keeps opening new browser tabs and goes to that error address. I assume if I don't kill the Steam Client to stop it it will keep doing it until it locks up my computer. Is this happening to anyone else?

It started happening to me today. Came out of VR with a million tabs open. Starting steam instantly opens tons of new tabs.

Have no problems.

I submitted a support ticket about this and the reply I got suggests that Valve knows about this and is working on a solution for those of us it's happening to. It was also suggested that opting in to the Beta version of the client fixes it, and it does. So if you're having this issue opt in to the beta at least temporarily. I had to because for me the current public version of the client isn't doing anything else but carpet bombing my computer with browser tabs trying to open http://error/.

Happening to me too. Reinstalling the client or opting in to the beta makes no difference.

Reinstalling again worked for me, so presumably they pulled the bad update.

Same problem here. I reinstalled and it was gone for a while but now that steam updated again the problem is back again.

I've opted out of the beta version about a week ago and it's not doing it anymore. Opting in to beta fixed it for me when it was happening, but they seem to have fixed it for the public version.
...although there is an update for the client I was just prompted for just now.

Is this happening when you use the client or are you using the website, ryandabeast99?

Something has gone wrong in the entirely of Steam website again, particularly in the client and the web browser as well if all due to the invalid SSL certificate

I would have to see to it that teamusa dot com has to be blocked in the Steam web browser.

That makes no sense at all. What does teamusa.com have to do with any of it?

It was the client, but i managed to solve my issue going into beta mode, which was a nightmare in itself with all the google tabs
