Do you see Valve selling the company/steam in the future
I always get curious about these kinda things, what do you think?

No, Why should they? Its a privately owned company with no stock, so it cant be taken over from the outside or pressured.
The Valve owners and at the top Game Newell would need to decide that they want to sell it.
Which he multiple times in the past said he will never consider.

Also for what? Money? He is already richer than he can ever spend from owning Valve/Steam, there is zero initiative to sell the company.

Probably not while GabeN is around, but wouldn't be surprised to see Steam go down the drain once ownership changes.

It would fetch a pretty buck if there are multiple inheritors eager on a spare billion or two of spare USD change (actually last company value I saw was a vague 4-10 billion USD, and that's probably severely undervaluing its worth).

After that, depending on the management that takes over, it's quite possible to go the way of any other VC enterprises...

George lucas was super rich, it didn't stop him selling starwars for a pretty buck. Infact lucas could of took starwars further but choose not too for what ever reason.

Anything can be bought. Just like lucas, one day Gabe might wake up and think, I can't be bothered with steam anymore and sell it. Or he could die next week and his family might sell it, the future nobody knows.

But im sure anyone who buys steam will be turning out games that valve should be making, games like hl3, l4d3, portal 3, CS2 and other games.

I think the name 'Epic Steam' is really cool.

More like 'Bethesda Steam', cause with this new UI. They went full Todd.
Actually, I don't know and I don't care either.

At this point, it might be what saves the company.

If there's someone who would close to buying steam (but before that happem valve likely close itself instead getting bought by other company) it would be Sony/Microsoft which is an industry Giant, maybe count Tencent too if they could bid up to 5 - 10 billion USD

Why not just sell it to Musk.

Why does it matter? I mean sooner or later staff will change, so the company direction could change. This is the case for all companies. Whether it's an internal change or a change because the company has been sold it doesn't really matter. I would imagine that sooner or later it will be bought by one of the larger entertainment companies.

Gabe will retire one day. Right now he's 57. Hopefully hes doesnt get sick of running Valve anytime soon.

But you never know maybe one day he just wants to get away from the stress of the business and pass leadership onto someone else.

Before this happens, we should probably plug his brain into the golden throne and declare him god emperor of steam for all eternity.

Not really though, i think recently a forum here mentioned about how Valve have no one leading the project which is quite true considering Staff are free to pick their own project and how they want to design it.

Likewise it even mentioned that Gabe has a son that work in Valve if Gabe Wanted to, otherwise Gabe himself prefer steam to close down without selling it to anyone,

As for someone who could buy it , that would be only
Microsoft/Sony/Tencent.
