Making NuSteam perform a bit better on older systems
I have a 2,4GHz C2D with 2GB RAM and HD3650 mobile (laptop). Playing games on this thing feels like playing them on an Athlon 64 3200+ and 9600XT back in the day.

Changing these settings seemed to help

Settings>Interface

Uncheck "Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views"
Uncheck "Enable Smooth Scrolling in web views"
Uncheck "Enable DirectWrite for improved font smoothing and kerning"
Uncheck "Enable hardware video decoding, if supported"

Settings>Library

Check "Low Bandwidth Mode"
Check "Low Performance Mode"

These two settings didn't do much, the main noticeable improvement was from unchecing the above settings from the Interface options

The performance difference after restarting Steam was very noticeable, the impact of the middle two Interface options are likely not that much compared to the first and last. lower-end GPUs are probably best off disabling acceleration in most cases

All they need is to use classic steam option but leaves the new one by default for installation though.

I have 2gb laptop myself the new UI is quite torture.

My PC doesn't have any issues but the ram will be bloated if you keep finding and load all the games in your library (I can imagine you can get like 2-4gb ram if you have like 1000-4000 games for the cache)

All they need is one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ checkbox that says "Classic mode" and all these fixes are redundant.

Thank god! Disabling the two middle interface options actually worked. For some reason nobody had suggested it to me. The client is again useable. Thank you.

Make two shortcuts to Steam.
On the first one, right click it and select the "Properties" option.

Then add the following after the Target address for the shortcut:
-no-browser +open steam://open/minigameslist

This will open Steam in a compact list with all the resource hogging browser extras disabled.
Rename the second shortcut to something to distinguish it from the first. You'll use the second shortcut when you need to launch Steam with all the BS enabled for whatever reason.

And once you've done all of the above, go complain to Valve and tell them you want the option to revert.
