Unable to purchase games with Wallet Funds
Hi all

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, and how it may have been fixed.

I have been trying to purchase games using my wallet funds, when i click the purchase button i receive this error:

"An unexpected error has occurred. Your purchase has not been completed.
Please contact Steam Support."

I have contacted support whom "reset" my account.

I was able to buy 1 game, which worked fine. However i can not purchase any others.

Support got back to me again and said they are looking into the issue.

Has anyone else had this problem before ? If so, how was it fixed ?

Might save support a bit of trouble if there has already been a resolution to the issue.

Cheers

When I encourage a payment issue, its either due to the following.

Cache issue, or payment issue such as lacking funds.

To clear cache on Steam client, click to top left "Steam", then click on "settings", click on "web browser" tab, and click delete cache, and delete cookies as well, and try again, or try using browser instead, of the client.

If this is a account restrictions issue, then this is beyond anyone, as only support can help fix your issue.

cheers for the reply

cleared the cache and cookies, no luck :(

I have also tried to purchase via a web browser (firefox, opera) no go either.

plenty of funds in my wallet, and there are no restrictions on my account. I can trade, buy and list items on the market etc.

Use external payment methods to purchase the game gifts.

Your account is probably flagged for being a reseller.

Plenty of users have been told this in various threads.

Is there a number restriction or friend time restriction or a combo of both?

I know that some people have lots of steam credits.

Does this affect money put in or only community sales money?

If community sales money, is that consumed first in purchases for yourself?

Just wondering.

The message would be too many purchases in a short amount of time and not the one the OP has.

bingo, didn't know about the reseller thing.

trying to find on google what constitutes a reseller ?

All I'm doing is selling the backgrounds and emoticons acquired from crafting badges.

Thank you very much everyone for the replies :)

Its people selling games to other users through outside payment and delivering them as gifts.

Has been the basis of many scams, money laundering and bypassing regional pricing and legal restrictions so has been cracked down on hard to put a stop to it.
ohh okies, I'm not doing anything like that at all.

erggg :/

I can can still use the community market thou, just can't buy games :(

Thanks again for the reply :)

They put a system in place that reacts to suspicious activities, they may need to work on it more.

Can be trigger by the ratio of buying for yourself versus buying for others, and other possibilities such as how frequently you're gifting.

Contact support is your only option, until they nail the system down correctly, to pin point the scammers, and such, but I still believe it will continue to make false positives, so don't worry you're not being targeted specifically by anyone.
