How do you search for someone on steam?

Before, I knew how to do it..
Now I try the same method and see my Friend Code??? wtf is this?
Now you can only add people using their Friend Code??

Just search for their name there. It's the same feature as before. When you find their profile you can just smash the "Add Friend" button like always.

You can only search by two ways.
- Display name.
- Player history, if supported in game.

If you already have contact with the person, such as VoIP, or etc, then just ask for one of the following.
- Friend code.
- Url link to their profile.

Which is the safest way anyway (although I have no idea what a "friend code" is supposed to be), as it just takes you to their profile with no chance of it going wrong.

Searching for display name -- you can never be sure you got the right guy. And it might not work at all if it's a new account; I think they have some limits in place.

If you ever use the Wii, 3DS, WiiU, or Switch, it's basically the same thing for adding friends, each person get a friend code, so you only have to put in the numbers, and that's basically it. Linking url and friend code basically results in same thing take out the guess work on who you're adding.
