What is UniPay?
One of my friends claims he randomly selected me for a $150 gift from a site called, Unipay... All he needs is my account name, not my password. I've never heard of this site before. Can someone tell me if this is a scam?

Specifically, they trick you to go to the site and enter your account details, banking on greed. I have a whole long stupid FAQ for people who give in to their stupid, stupid greed. But thankfully, you asked questions.

Ah ♥♥♥♥... I reposted this discussion like three times and now someone shows up and tells me!? Is it bad I already told him my account name? He didn't ask for the password.

Eh, it's not great. Make sure you've got two factor authentication turned on, and don't enter anything into the site. Essentially your friend got turned, like a buffy style vampire.

Looks like your friend, isn't your friend anymore.

If anyone ever offers me a gift next time... they have to do it through Steam.

Apparently there's some nebulous crap even around that. If you are offered an unsolicited gift, be wary.

The only reason I gave him my account name is because the site looked very legit and there was even an iPhone app for it (I checked on my own iPhone too). I'm glad Steam Authenticator exists.

Still, I don't know if I dodged a bullet or an actual stack of money, but again, I've never heard of UniPay so maybe it was a bullet.
(The app only has like six reviews too...)

Well, I thank you very much for your help. Say, you wouldn't happen to know if the authenticator can be connected to more than one device, can it?

Nope, I do not. Sorry.
