Can't accept game Invites from friends and doesn't show what game they are on.

Me and my friends have been having issues with games invites for a while now where I cannot accept any invites that they send me. They are able to accept invites I send. So now it has become an issue where he needs to host and has no way to send me an invite. I get the notification on a steam message that he invited me but I don't get the green button to accept. All I get is a notification that he has invited me and nothing to click on. As well it just says they are online even when they are in a game. I can't find anything online to solve the problem and this has become an extremely annoying issue for us. Any help getting this to work would be appreciated. As well when they join me like without an invite i get a ton of notification that {user} has start playing this game. One time it kept give me the notification which was very annoying because some of it blocks part of the game like the mini map. Their settings is set to friends only so they should be able to invite me and let me join them.

it only didnt work for one person who had to do this instead click a fixing tap, and it scan through his steam and check for errors, he was missing a file in the profile game district where he can look at my games and invite people

3 years later this problem still exists and it's getting annoying af
