Steam screws you over when it comes to bad wallet codes....period
I bought $70 worth of steam gift cards at walgreens (1 $20 and 1 $50). I checked them and the conf. email said BOTH cards were under maintenance. I checked the next day and it said they had been REDEEMED!
After talking to support, sending them jpgs of the cards, etc...they said they cant do anything and I'm basically f*cked!

F*ck steam....

oh and btw? a LOT of people have gotten screwed like this too.....

That makes no sense. For starters what e-mail? I've never gotten a confirmation e-mail from steam for redeeming a giftcard.

I've also never seen the words maintenance used for any gift card, that makes no sense.

There are usually 2 types of issues with giftcards.

1. Getting one that was already redeemed
2. The store not activating the card

Steam can't do anything about either one, you'd need to contact the store.

At a local store?
Go there and tell them to solve it, before you involve the police.

Where did you 'check' them? Because that might be the step where your codes got phished.

What confirmation email? From what service?

There are scam sites offering to "check the balance" on all kinds of gift cards. Seems to work surprisingly well for the scammers.

I would just like to add I, too, would like to know where you “checked” the cards.

Won’t even answer, hey bud I hope you realize you have to answer these folks if you want some help...

Yeeeep I am thinking the OP got his cards 'checked' by someone who used them for their own purposes.

There's no need to ever 'check' a card - you either use it, or you don't. And the only place to 'use' it is to put it onto your Steam account directly. Not on any other site, or using any other service.

If you did those things, putting your card numbers on a different website than your Steam actual account, you have no one to blame but yourself. Steam support cannot possibly help you.

Oh yeah, and what proof did you provide with this claim? Also don't give out gift card codes to random people.

This is true.

My local 7-11 stores sell these gift cards and each one of them has to be manually activated by the cashier upon purchase to prevent some punk a*s kid from stealing the whole stack of cards worth hundreds of dollars.
Next time follow the printed instructions on the card/on your receipt and don't google for some website to "check". :steamhappy:
Just Googled it and some websites offer to check that your iTunes, Google Play and other vouchers are unredeemed. Totally random site so why anyone would trust it is beyond me
