There is no law that requires a router to have a *.1 address.

Normally it's 192.168.0.1 unless someone changes it, or was changed by your ISP Firmware update, idk what to tell you.

Open CMD, type ipconfig, and check the IP address to your modem, if it is 254 then that what it is, but if it 0.1 then something not adding up, as should be connecting to the address it reported back to you when you did up check.

If you want to confirm something, and don't mind resetting everything up for any changes you made on your modem, I suggest manufacturer hard reset, which there should be a button to press and need to hold it for period of time, afterward it will wipe everything, and reset itself to what it was set by the manufacturer by the firmware update.

Some ISP's don't allow router logins. I'd say more, but I don't know if that would be considered circumventing a service agreement.

manual: https://www.netplusfr.ch/sites/default/files/fichiers/doc_mode_emploi_-_i6800_en.pdf

Read the manual

Do not connect to router with wifi. Especially if it says, not https

hah, I skimmed it, I don't think they actually say, they just skip right to the management page. Apparently icotera likes secrets.

My aunt's ISP doesn't want users messing with the box, so they set a different login for their "service technicians"

Guy in a van, service technician, same difference.

Dont use wifi when its only http.

Read the manual. It tells ip and login. (Which you should change for security reasons)

Having *.254 as the router ip is not as unusual as you think. Maybe not that usual for home networks but if you go into business networks the router is set to the last address in the network most of the time

This is sometimes done to confuse some viruses and hackers who may well assume 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
Routers may also assign unusual ip's in the nat tables too, for exactly the same reason.

how about u don’t release a ip online

What I meant is that some ISP's don't want their customers changing any settings in the modem/gateway.

Maybe you should learn the difference between public and private IPs.

Doesn't sound logical, simply use the Gateway IP. Which "surprisingly" is the same as the management IPs in pretty much any consumer router.
