It's like asking why Tencent doesn't buy Half-Life.
And I don't believe Valve may have the budget to buy that huge IP from them either, as it's one of Activision money generating games, next to call of duty.
That's probably a understatement. WoW was once what Fortnite is today financially and culturally. And even now, or maybe especially now with classic relaunch, it still highly profitable and one of the most well recognized IP's in gaming.

Blizzard really should of stayed as a private company, but the owners got greedy and now the company is going mobile to keep investors happy..such is the way.
Most of fortnites money (same as pubg) comes from mobile (especially from china), however it's still slowing down across the board and I think in 2 years has made around 2-3 billion? It's big but it's not world breaking at all, even street fighter has made 9-10 billion.
In opurchasing it Valve would have to put up the purchase cost and inherit all the other costs associated wioth the game. Salary payouts, upkeep, Development, etc. IT quite literally wouldn't bnreak eaven rfor maybe a decade and quite frankly i don't think WOW has another decade left in it.
It's simply not worth it.
Especially considering they would have to buy the entire Warcraft IP. That means the RIghts to all the strat games, WoW, HEarthstone, and the rights to the movie(s).
fixed so that you guys can understand each other XD
2. Valve likely doesn't have money to blow like that.
3. Valve doesn't NEED to buy it. We have a ton of MMOs here on Steam already, like ESO for instance.

They went for the whole shebang.
I was hoping since Tencent has their hands in everything (including the Venom, MIB:I, Wonder Woman, Bumblebee movies) that they would at least try.
Eh.... Fortnite was and arguably still is a trendy and popular game. It will only die down when the next big hit will come. I don't think the battle royale formula can be improved in anyway to do to Fortnite what it did to Pubg but a different kind of next big hit WILL come eventually.
