Breeding/Genetics Game
I'm looking for a PC game in which you can breed your own animals.

To be precise, I'm looking for some kind of game that includes genetics to some degree, as in that the offspring keeps appearance of both parents and then you can breed those again with each other, etc.

I know some games that have these systems

-Petz (Dogz/Catz)
-an old flash game here [www.dressupgames77.com] but converting these for offline play, especially with keeping the safe file is way too much work
-fish tycoon (but I don't like the real time component too much)

There is also a new game called Mewgenics but that one has been in development for a bit and was just recently announced to be worked on again.

So, if you have any titles that come to mind I'd be really happy to hear them ^^

Species: Artificial Life, Real Evolution might be something you're looking for. The graphics look a bit, simplistic, if you mind that, but still.

I tried this once, has it been updated significantly recently? Bc the version I tried fell a bit flat for me though I'd be more than willing to try it out again

I love this game but as soon as you go into the tribal state it kinda looses its appeal, which seems to be a common issue people have with the game from what I heard.

Thanks for the quick answers guys ^^
Might update the start post if they'll be more answers so people that are looking for simular games have a go-to list to try out the games.

I would suggest the game Spore. It's a bit old, but I enjoyed that as a kid.

The original non-steam Pony Island site has fun ponies if you like MLP styled things (though it actually predates the new mlp shows by more than 5 years), it's quite enjoyable and can be challenging to create just the right color or mix of features.

Unfortunately (in *TS3 at least), traits aren't generally passed on unless you select ones that the parents had, but appearance is similar to the parents and I think some of their favorites are usually passed down. If you have the Generations expansion, you can actually use lifetime points (sort of like experience the Sim builds up over time) to clone a sim and not only give the child a similar appearance, but some of their traits are passed to the clone as well.

*I have the other games, but 3 is the only one I've played extensively since the entire neighborhood is explorable.
