Abnormal extremely slow download speed
I'm downloading games from my library at literally BYTES per second... what the actual F is going on?

I tried downloading games with other stores (such as Epic, GoG etc) and get my usual solid 20 mb/s download speed.

I've tried all the usual steps (such as re-installing steam, switching download servers, clearing download cache etc) but nothing seems to be working at all.

I've never had this problem before until today.

I've recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 but surely this can't be the issue if my internet connection is just fine for all other applications?

I would be most grateful if anyone has some advice in relation to this.

Thanks!

Yea 3mb/s i wouldn't even complain about at this point. But I used to get 20mb/s at all time when downloading on steam but now I am getting BYTES (as in 200 bytes per second) download speeds. Installing 1gb would literally take a whole week! This is clearly not working as intended and there must be a solution to this.

What's your regular download speed? Check from speedtest.net

got the same problem here, all the other launcher download at 15mb/s but when i need to download or upgrade a game from steam the most i can get is 200kb/s

Did speedtest and connection is working fine and stable.

Like I said above it should be 20mb/s.

I've just tried bypassing my router by plugging in the ethernet cable directly and that seemed to have fixed the slow download. So it appears my router is causing this issue.

What sort of setting should I change in the router settings to make this problem go away? Perhaps something to do with ports or firewalls?

Grateful for any advice.

Ethernet will always be better. WiFi is unreliable, and increases latency and lowers download speeds.

I'm not using Wifi. My ethernet is plugged into the router as there's mutiple people using the router in my house. I therefore absolutely need the router. Otherwise I'd just straight up plug it into the wall socket.

So I am wondering how I can set up my router that it won't block Steam downloads (which it appears to be doing)? Any ideas?
