Using Trainers on non VAC games - possible?
Hi,
I really would like to know if I use trainer to play a certain game, but it's solo and just wanted to complete the achievements, would that land me on VAC ban despite the game has NO VAC tag? I mean just a single player despite it has co-op and online co-op. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks..

Are you really achieveing the achievements if you use a trainer?

If a game has no anti-cheat, you won't be banned, but do beware.

You can only be VAC banned on VAC secured games. However, some developers on games like Payday 2 and Dead By Daylight for example will issue Game Bans for certain behaviour e.g cheating achievements or using 3rd party material to boost in-game performance. These bans operate the same as VAC bans and also appear on your profile. Just because a game is seen as single player doesn't mean certain things wont get detected or go unnoticed so it's best not to do it or check the licence of the game fully before taking any risks.

Umm... I'm asking because the achievements are too hard to get & it doesn't involve other players in the process, that's why I asked. Also, using trainer while online would have high chances of ban? That I dunno yet. I have no interest to get top in any leaderboard as well...

Well, they ARE called achievements for a reason. I suggest you stayed true to yourself and what you achieve. If you are worried and unsure about it, it's better if you didn't use it too.

I wouldn't use trainers. Not because of "OMGCHEATAR" or whatever, but because you don't know if they're harmless or malware infested account stealing programs.

Thanks for the advice but I've tried time and again to stay true. I have a bad habit - a completionist. So, whatever achievements incomplete yet is like a thorn inside me.. LOL..

Thanks for the heads up but the trainer is 100% free of any harm to the PC... =)

Whether a developer has acccess to authorise Valve to apply a Game Ban isn't really disclosed by them. You're better off asking in the game forum itself but you may get some ridicule or even reported for discussing such a thing. Game licence info can usually be found on the Store page depending if the developer published it there or via the games official website.

Believe me, cheating to obtain it will most likely end up as a thorn as well.

Just keep on playing and trying, you'll eventually get it.
It's that Roguelike, right? People will be very suspicious if you ended up getting the achievements too quickly.

Well, the guidelines state you shouldn't make threads about "Cheats, Hacks, or Exploits". This subforum is the only one in which this is allowed to an extent.

But yes, anyone who asks if they can cheat is prone to be ridiculed on some forums.

I don't dare to post it on the game forum... LOL... And thanks for guiding me where to look for the game license.

Actually, I've trying like forever to get it, the achievements. Most of the achievements, I already obtained. It's just some near-impossible achievements. LOL...

Those are bragging rights achievements. If I may say so myself, I wouldn't feel it's fair if you cheated to obtain them, as people who got it normally worked hard for it. All roguelikes have those.

As an example of an achievement you are better off not bothering with, check out Crypt of the Necrodancer. There's one for beating "All-Characters Low%", which means beating the game a total of 9 times without collecting any item at all, and there's some characters with pretty nasty mechanics.

Those achievements have people be suspicious of you from even having, so having them unlocked near each other would make them even more suspicious and would give you a hard time.

Yes, you are right. But I don't brag it. Just wanna complete it, no intention to brag either. And I have found out that some players got some of the achievements exactly at the same time and date, which makes me to think it wasn't possible as some of the achievements need a lot of time to get it.
