Which Arma 3 Version Should I Buy?
I saw that the base arma 3 game is only 13 bucks and want to try it. I also saw that there was the apex edition but thought that was only for the digital goodies. I later got told by a discord member to get the apex edition if im going to get mods and since the apex edition is only 23 bucks, which is basically the base game and apex dlc, it seems like a good deal with the digital goodies and the dlc thats in it. I dont really know what to expect with arma 3 besides bad performance so it also kinda makes me think, "Am i gonna even play multiplayer, use mods or etc" ? I appreciate your help.

Depends, in my opinion ArmA is one of the best games out there. Not only is it a game, but a platform from which with mods and stuff you can turn it into anything else, from military simulations, to a life role-play, zombies, etcetc.

You need a very good PC to run it properly. So I'd care about that first.

Apex is not completely necessary but I'd recommend it, it's probably the most complete DLC for ArmA III.

Must I add aswell, forgot to mention in my original reply, in my case - the ArmA III experience is the richest in Multiplayer, Singleplayer doesn't really do much personally for me, it's just regular missions you can play like with any other game (although in an ArmA-esque environment and engine), but what makes ArmA special is the unique stuff that can be carried on in multiplayer, whether it be just the communication, being tactical, milsim, roleplay, or even full-on just being dumb for fun. The singleplayer is just like any other game's singleplayer mostly.

What it'll take is that, ArmA 3 is like cooking vs instant meals. In most games, you click play, find a server, you're set since they're all the same. In ArmA 3 you'll likely need to find a server that you like, with mods/gamemodes you like, players, etcetc. So it takes a bit longer getting into it and finding a place to play, but once you've got somewhere, someone, or a community, then it should all just go forward.
Plus, it's also rather easy to create stuff for the game (if you're into that) so that's also pretty cool in my book.

But like I said, it's really hard getting into, but if you do, it is very fun and has a lot of opportunities as I've also mentioned previously.

Hope that helps!
Cheers,
-Rhaonoa.

Yeah so far I have just played singleplayer and thats fun but I am going to try and get into some multiplayer. The game is also really hard and confusing but watching some videos helped.

Personally, what I've done most is play with units (in our own private servers) but I'm not as active in that anymore.

Good server for public online play are:
Any official/unofficial King of the Hill ones, and if you're looking for something more serious and sort of tactical, the best one for public play (without needing a unit and etcetera) is probably 77TH JSOC's Invade and Annex server under the same name. Other then that, there isn't any really I follow, but other cool gamemodes are Battle Royale, EXILE, Breaking Point, and etc. If not, COOP missions are always fun.

Better to just get the apex edtion. Saves you waiting for another sale if you ever want the DLC later.
