Password lockout is ridiculous
I changed my password and forgot the next day. I attempted to log in multiple times and instead of saying I was over my limit and forcing a reset or Capatca, I am locked out on my PC. Yet, I'm on my phone on the same network right now after doing a reset, posting. And I still can't get on on my PC. Instead of a great security feature this is just highly frustrating.

I can reset my credentials easier on my financial sites than this. Even with a large number of failed log ins.

You wouldn't be saying this if someone had tried to brute force their way into your account.

There are better ways to prevent it. I never even received an email of log in attempts. Steam just has dated systems they don't feel a need to improve on because they don't have to.

Why not just force a reset via my email and security questions? Or enter part of my credit card details? Or send me a text? I've never experienced a time lock longer than a couple of minutes. It's been almost 30.

most of us have not experienced this password lockout becouse remembering our own log in details is our own responsibility, it is not Steam's fault that you forgot your password, and then instead of resetting your password, you chose to keep trying to bruteforce it

Why would they? It obviously works.

I just question why major banks and credit cards have a system far more user friendly. I'm not blaming them for me putting it in wrong multiple times, I'm blaming them for the poor recovery action.

If you tilt too often in a flipper game, the round is lost.

Better reset your password if you dont know it.
Because false attempts in a row are what brute force would do. If you imitate brute force, you get paused.

The most effective security features is the one that cause the most frustration. You are now feeling what the hackers would feel if they ever try.
